Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Partners With Chris Hacker Motorsports
14-year-old Chris Hacker set to return to JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competition
July 26, 2014
Noblesville, Indiana (July 26, 2014) – An interdisciplinary team of students and faculty
from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) partnered with Chris
Hacker Motorsports (CHM) on various projects designed to build value for the CHM brand.
The ultimate goal was to develop team sponsorship opportunities, build brand value that
enhances visibility with the media and sponsors, and hopefully attracting a developmental
race team. The IUPUI team includes six undergraduate students: Tiffany Beenken,
Marissa Farmer, Emmy Gray, C.J. Mantel, Wes Smith and Jessica Spaulding, from
different concentration majors.  Larry Jinkins, a graduate student, and David Pierce, PhD.,
Assistant Professor of Sports Management, led the project.

Saturday, July 26, from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., the IUPUI motorsports marketing team are
hosting an event at Anderson Speedway to raise awareness for the program offered by the
School of Physical Education and Tourism Management and CHM.  Hacker won his first
CRA race at Anderson Speedway in 2013 and seems fitting that Anderson Speedway
serves as host for the celebration of the initial motorsports marketing class offered by
IUPUI.

During the event, the students will be available to answer questions anyone may have regarding motorsports marketing. Other race teams, anyone from the CRA and any prospective students considering the program are welcome to ask as many questions as they like to gain better knowledge of what the program offers as a collegiate course of study.  The event also marks the conclusion of the semester for the students and serves as the final event for the IUPUI course.

The team of students and CHM have been creating awareness for Brachial Plexus injuries (BPI) and the United Brachial Plexus Network (UBPN) through the “24 Kids to Camp” campaign. Hacker has suffered from a Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) since birth limiting the movement in his left arm. He drives with the primary use of his right arm, but he does not let his condition slow him down on the track or in life.

Anyone interested in learning more about BPI, UBPN, or the new motorsports marketing program offered at IUPUI is invited to attend.  Hacker will also have the “24 Kids to Camp” shirts available for a $24 donation.

**IUPUI and CHM would like to thank Rick Dawson, Owner of Anderson Speedway, and Glen Luckett, Managing Partner of CRA, for their support.
