Portage, Indiana (June 4, 2014) – It's been a season of trying new things and competing
at new race tracks for 17-year-old Paul Shafer Jr. The 2013 Illiana Motor Speedway Super
Late Model Track Champion is competing for the Rookie of the Year title in both the
ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and the ARCA Midwest Tour Presented by
SCAG Power Equipment. Some new tracks are easy to figure out while others, not so
much.

Case in point, on Saturday, May 31st the Berlin 125 Presented by
AutoWorldFinancial.com was at the unique 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of
Berlin Raceway. The historic fairgrounds oval located west of Grand Rapids in Marne,
Michigan is one track where there's no in between with drivers in terms of adapting well to
the tricky layout. It's either feast or famine at the famed West Michigan oval.

"Berlin was an experience and nothing less. It is, by far, the toughest track I have ever
been too." Explained the Portage, Indiana teenager. "I can't exactly explain the track, but
it is definitely a challenging one. We ended up 16th, which isn't exactly what we wanted.
Hopefully when we go back for the Battle at Berlin 251 in July we can get something better
figured out." He added.

Shafer Jr., and his Shafer Motorsports Team will now head to the biggest track on their schedule for the 2014 racing season; the famed One Mile (1.017) semi-banked paved oval of the Milwaukee Mile, located west of Milwaukee in West Allis, Wisconsin for one of the biggest races in the Midwest this year. The 3rd Annual ARCA Fest will see the ARCA Midwest Tour highlight the weekend with the running of the Howie Lettow Memorial 150.

"I'm excited to go back to Milwaukee because it is one of the fastest tracks on the schedule." The 17-year-old Hoosier State native continued. "Hopefully we have a better time than last year, because we blew up in final practice." Shafer Jr., ended.

After Berlin and in ARCA/CRA Super Series points, Shafer Jr., is third in the chase for the 2014 Rookie of the Year title but only nine points out of the freshman points lead. He's also an seventh overall in the title chase with two top 10 finishes. His season high of seventh came at his home track of Illiana during Border Wars II on Memorial Day Monday. In ARCA Midwest Tour competition, he's second in the rookie points and eighth overall.

For the remainder of the 2014 racing season in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour, Shafer Jr.'s popular black and purple #7 Shafer Motorsports / Chevrolet which is a Pathfinder Chassis with horsepower under the hood from Hamner Racing Engines will carry sponsorship support and decals all year long from Southlake Body as well as Maxim Powersports and M.P.H.
