Ali Kern Looks Ahead To Berlin Raceway In An Effort To Stop 'Sophomore Slump'
2013 Rookie of the Year focusing on the positives & to keep moving forward in 2014 (Special from Ali Kern Motorsports)
May 29, 2014
Fremont, Ohio (May 29, 2014) – It's been a trying season so far for 2013 ARCA/CRA
Super Series Powered by JEGS Rookie of the Year and Overall Runner-Up, Ali Kern. So
far in three races during her sophomore season, the Fremont, Ohio drivers' best finish has
been a 12th at Anderson Speedway (IN) back on April 26th. While she's remaining
optimistic about the rest of the 2014 racing season, she's hoping the start to the year
isn't the beginning of the dreaded 'sophomore slump'.

Her last race was the Calypso Lemonade 150 on Memorial Day Monday, May 26th at
Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana, the second and final Border Wars race.
The ARCA/CRA Super Series teams and the cars and stars of the ARCA Midwest Tour
Presented by SCAG Power Equipment went head to head for the second and final time
this season. A disappointing qualifying effort followed by issues throughout the 150-lap
main relegated the 21-year-old to a disappointing 22nd place finish.

"It's like déjà vu because I keep saying the same things after every race this season.
Again, we had a great car on practice day and again on race day we had issues that
ended our day early." The dejected driver explained. "I was getting whiplash in the car
when the motor was stopping and starting it was popping like crazy.  At the halfway break
we changed out the ignition box and coil but when we re-started the race it just stopped
on the track and we were done for the day."

"I know we're not the only team having electrical problems, but our luck has got to turn around here soon or I'm going to take up ballet." She laughed as her, the Ali Kern Motorsports team and the Lorz Motorsports team regroup and get ready for the next race. The Berlin 125 Presented by AutoWorldFinancial.com just five days after Illiana, on Saturday, May 31st at Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan.

"We're bringing both cars to Berlin but we plan on running the crate motor car.  I've had some podium finishes in that car so we're hoping for the best this weekend." She continued. "I really want to and need to thank my crew and everyone who has been supporting us this season and for keeping a positive attitude." She ended. Despite the rough start to the season, Kern is still sitting eighth in points just 14 markers outside of the coveted top five.

For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, Kern will be behind the wheel of a pair of black #28 Ali Kern Motorsports / Ford Fusions maintained by Lorz Motorsports.
