Defending Series Champion, Jimmy Kirby Gets First CRA Street Stocks Series Win Of 2013
Final Appearance of the season for the Series at Anderson Speedway (Special from Anderson Speedway)
Anderson, Indiana (September 14, 2013) – A year ago Jimmy Kirby won the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Series Powered by JEGS and Anderson Speedway Street Stock championships, but this year has been a different story as he recorded his first feature win of the year on Saturday, Sepember 14th.
Kirby used a restart on lap 14 to drive around the outside of Tyler Marsh on the front straight to take the top spot and then survived five more restarts to record the victory. Fast qualifier Calvin Parham passed Dustin Burge with 17 laps remaining to claim the second position with Burge coming home in third. Jim Crabtree Jr. recovered from a flat tire on lap 14 to drive to a fourth place finish with Ricky Tharp coming home in fifth.
The first caution flag waved on lap 14 when T.J. Flynn mixed it up on the front straight with Derrick Layne. On the restart Josh Poore and Brandon Mefford made contact on the front straight which ended Mefford’s night and took Poore out of contention for the win. Marsh ran in the second spot until he spun in turn four on lap 33 bringing out the fourth of five caution flags. Marsh was credited with a seventh place finish.
Jason Atkinson appeared headed for a top five finish, swapping the fourth spot with Crabtree several times over the final 15 laps when he broke a suspension part and pulled into the infield pit area.
Burge won the first of the three heat races with a pass of Josh Myers on the insie on the front straight. Crabtree, Mefford and Parham rounded out the top five.
Kirby got the win in the second heat race passing Andrew Cook on lap four following a restart with an outside move going down the back straight. The race didn’t get a lap in the books when the caution flag waved when Cook, Danny Adams and Mason Keller tangled entering turn one. On the AERCO Heating & Air Conditioning restart Cook took the lead followed by Marsh and Kirby. Marsh pitted on lap four when Keller brought out the second caution flag for a turn two spin.
Following Kirby to the checkers were Cook, Ricky Tharp, Adams and Layne.
The third heat win went to Jeff Albright who led from start to finish. Flynn finished second with Larry Lathan, Josh Lank and Tim McKaughlin completing the top five.
The Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Series Powered by JEGS will be a part of the McGunegill Engine Performance CRA Fall Brawl Presented by P.A.D.D. (People Against Disracted Driving) at the immaculate Lucas Oil Raceway, located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana on Saturday-Sunday, September 21-22nd.
