with the Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS in the
16th Annual Gold Cup 50 at Baer Field Speedway Saturday night. Saturday’s event was

Prior to the feature event Ft. Wayne native K.C. Spillers out qualified 22 other drivers in
his return to his former home track with CRA. In the first 10 lap heat race, veteran Ft.

Mark Lambert and John Gatton Jr. In the second 10 lap heat race, 14 year old J.J. Haley
got the win over Baer Field veteran Chad Richardson and Steve Christman.

Lambert took the early lead from his pole starting position for the Gold Cup 50 until Oliver
Fitzwater powered by on the outside to take the lead on lap two. Then it was Baer Field
regular Justin King who worked his way through the field to take the lead on lap 11. King
would continue to lead until spinning out on his own on lap 33 with Lambert back in
second.

Atkinson took advantage of his outside starting position on the lap 34 restart to grab the lead away from Lambert and would go on to get the win. Meanwhile Spillers had worked his way through the field after falling back to 12th place early in the race to battle Lambert for second. The two battled hard over the final 16 laps with Spillers getting second and Lambert third place.
