Millington, Tennessee (October 26, 2013) – Whenever and wherever the ARCA/CRA Super
Series Powered by JEGS pulls in for an event, a familiar white #20 can never be counted
out of any race anywhere at any time. 34-year-old Brian Campbell showed once again why
he's one of the top competitors in the country when he and his KBR Development Team
make the trip to any event as the West Michigan veteran took the race lead from Ross
Kenseth on lap 80 of the ARCA/CRA portion of the 'Racing's Back!' Memphis 125 and never
looked back en route to victory in the first ever caution free event in the series' 17-year
history.
For the first time since the 2009 season, the 3/4s (0.750) mile semi-banked paved tri-oval
of Memphis International Raceway, located northeast of Memphis in Millington, Tennessee
hosted short track stock car racing as Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by
JEGS brought in the two premier divisions within the series on October 26th. The JEGS/
CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance raced earlier in the day before the
ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models took over.
After taking the lead from Anderson Bowen on lap five, Kenseth checked out from the rest
of the field and would lead the next 74 laps before Campbell reeled him in, took over the
point and from there, it was all Campbell in his #20 KBR Development / Ford who would pick up his 12th career ARCA/CRA Super Series win to move to within two victories of the coveted top five all-time in the wins column as fifth place is currently being held by 2005 Series Champion, Jeff Lane, who has 14 career triumphs.
"The car was just 'bad fast' today. I know our Qualifying effort really didn't show that. So we just worked hard, picked cars off when we could," The Wyoming, Michigan veteran explained in victory lane. "After halfway, we just stepped up our plan and it all worked out. I sincerely appreciate everyone on this KBR Team for all of the hard work they put into this program. We haven't had the season we wanted to have this year, but we did pick up some Wins here late in the year and we'll be right there running hard in 2014." He added.
In addition to the accolades of taking part in the post-race ceremonies as the winner, Campbell collected a slew of awards including the C.V. Racing Products Hard-Charger Award, Racing Electronics Most Improved Positions Award and the Hedman Hedders Husler Award all for his 11th place to victory lane run. In addition, he also scored the Crane Ignition Performance Award as well. "We've had an up and down year this season and I'm just so happy to come down here and do so well for this team. Very happy right now." He ended.
Leading a race high 75 laps before coming home in second place was Appleton, Wisconsin's Ross Kenseth who was behind the wheel of the #29 Adrian Carriers / Chevrolet for the weekend. The 20-year-old didn't leave Memphis empty-handed though as he secured the VR-12 Halfway Leader Award as well as the VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race Award and the FLUIDYNE Cool Under Pressure Award for his efforts.
2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion and Rookie of the Year, Derrick Griffin would complete the podium finishers with a third place finish in the 21-year-old's #25 Commonwealth Engineers Incorporated / Chevrolet as earlier in the day, he would establish the all-time Memphis International Raceway Track Record and picked up a $600 bonus from Hamner Racing Engines, COMP Cams and PitBoxes.com for his efforts. The South Bend, Indiana driver also collected the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award as well.
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native, Donnie Wilson would finish in fourth in his #2 Oklahoma City Auto Works / Ford. the 42-year-old ran in the top five throughout the afternoon as he finished ahead of Eddie Hoffman who collected his second straight fifth place finish of the afternoon in his #8 LisaThomasSalon.com / Ford as the 53-year-old Wheaton, Illinois veteran also competed in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance portion of the 'Racing's Back!' Memphis 250 and came away with the same result.
16-year-old Anderson Bowen recorded his second sixth place showing of the afternoon as he also finished in the same position in the while Willie Allen, the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman (Now Camping World) Truck Series Rookie of the Year, who was the only Tennessee representative of the weekend in either division, finished seventh in his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut after scoring a third place finish earlier in the day in the JEGS/CRA race. 14-year-old Jake Griffin picked up a career high eighth place finish in only his third career ARCA/CRA start with 2011 ARCA Midwest Tour Champion, Andrew Morrissey finishing ninth over Griffin McGrath who would finish off the top 10.
Derek Griffin's first Fast Qualifier Award since his championship winning 2011 season and second of his career also established the ARCA/CRA Super Series Track Record at Memphis as he toured the 3/4s mile at a 21.634, the fastest lap ever recorded at the Millington, Tennessee speed plant. His time measured out to a blistering 124.804mph and was worth $600 for his efforts.
