Yorktown, Indiana (September 5, 2014) – In a season full of new tracks to try and learn on
the fly, 17-year-old Cole Rouse continues to show signs of improvement throughout the
2014 racing season. The Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title contender made
the most of another debut at another new track over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend; the
famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banks of Winchester Speedway (IN) where he turned in a
career high finish of an eighth in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on August
31st during the tracks World Stock Car Festival.
"We had a great qualifying run, but the car was off in the race. We managed to hang on
though and stayed out of trouble. Especially there at that place, that's saying something,"
The Fort Smith, Arkansas freshman stated after the race. "This whole team and I are
getting better and better every time out and I know the better finishes are coming. I know I
just need to be patient and continue to learn from my guys as much as I can as we get
through these final few races. But qualifying fourth quick, thanks to this team, is pretty
darn cool, especially at Winchester." He added.
There's not much time for reflection for Rouse and his Rick Turner Racing Driver
Development Team as they will head to another new track to not only Rouse, but the
entire crew; The fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso Speedway (MI)
on Saturday, September 6th for the Big 'O' Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com. "Hopefully Owosso goes well. None of us have ever seen the place. We've got two practices to figure out, so hopefully we do and continue to build up to some more good finishes and contend for a win." He ended.
Heading into the race at Owosso, Rouse is third in the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title chase while also sitting an impressive seventh overall in the title chase, just 31 points out of the coveted top five overall. He has two top 10 finishes with his career high of eighth coming in the last race. In 10 overall races, including the non-points SpeedFest 2014 back on January 26th at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA), he has an impressive seven finishes of at least a top 15 finish.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Rouse and his black and yellow #20 ColeRouseRacing.com / Toyota Camry will have decals and support from Rouse Custom Homes as well as McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H.
