Recent String Of Strong Runs Has 16-Year-Old Hunter Baize Optimistic Heading To Owosso Speedway
Kentucky teenager now fifth in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points (Special from Hunter Baize Racing)
September 5, 2014
Bremen, Kentucky (September 5, 2014) – One race at a time. That's the motto that 16-
year-old Hunter Baize and his Hunter Baize Racing / VanDoorn Racing Development
Team have been using for the past two races. The Bremen, Kentucky driver has used that
theory to his advantage in the last two JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet
Performance events at Auto City Speedway (MI) and Winchester Speedway (IN) and the
results have started to come around for him. A third and a second place effort at both
tracks have vaulted Baize into fifth place in points.

Baize's latest effort, a runner-up showing, came at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-
banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN) during the tracks prestigious Labor Day
Weekend World Stock Car Festival on August 31st. After starting second, he fell back to
eighth before recoiling and charging back up towards the front and finishing just behind
race winner, Trent Snyder in second spot. Although he wanted the win at the famed 1/2
mile, the theory remains one step at a time for the Blue Grass State teenager.

"It was great to get another podium finish this past weekend, in the World Stock Car
Festival. We've really built some momentum as a team these last couple of races and we
look forward to talking that into the next race." Baize remarked. That next race is at a
relatively new track for him, the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso
Speedway (MI) in Ovid, Michigan on Saturday, September 6th. The Big 'O' Classic 100
Presented by JEGS.com is next and despite having been there before, he never got any track time during his rookie season as rain washed away the show one year ago.

"I will feel like a rookie again a bit this week, as I've never turned a lap around the track," Baize laughed as he and his team continue preparations for the Owosso race. "I've watched some videos, and talked to a couple of my friends that run there regularly about the track. I'm confident that with the help of Johnny, Butch, and all the guys at VRD we can adapt quickly and contend for the win." He ended.

Going into the race at Owosso, Baize is now fifth in the points standings, 28 back of fourth place Dalton Armstrong. Looking ahead, Baize has a whopping 113-point deficit to make up on points leader, Dan Leeck for any shot at the 2014 JEGS/CRA Championship. Not impossible, but he knows he's going to have to be nearly perfect in the final four races to make up that kind of ground. He has one win this season, which came at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) back on May 24th. Overall he has three top five finishes which also account for his three top 10 showings. He does have one Fast Qualifier Award, which came at Berlin Raceway (MI) on July 18th.

For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, all of Baize's red and black #13 VanDoorn Racing Development / Ford Fusions will carry sponsorship decals and support from Mountaineer Firewood as well as Kawasaki, Steel City Bolt, Threaded Fasteners, T.J. Racing Lubricants, Wood-Mizer Portable Saw Mills, B&K Wood Products, Sterling Lumber Company, McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H. Promotions
