DeWitt, Michigan (September 4, 2014) – As the 2014 racing season hits the homestretch,
Chad Finley is getting as much seat time as possible between both asphalt and dirt
surfaces. While enjoying the Labor Day Holiday Weekend that was full of dirt track racing
with his Super Late Model, the DeWitt, Michigan driver is now getting back into pavement
mode this Saturday, September 6th at his home track; Owosso Speedway (MI), located
just 20 minutes northeast of the Chad Finley Racing Team shop.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head to the fast
3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval for the running of the Big 'O' Classic 100
Presented by JEGS.com. In Finley's last race with JEGS/CRA; he broke the track record
at near-by Auto City Speedway (MI) back on August 9th in qualifying. After spending the
next couple of weeks on dirt, Finley is more than ready to get back to the pavement side
of things and the best part, the next race is close to home for his team and fans.
"We are really looking forward to getting back to Owosso Speedway with the JEGS tour.
Mother Nature intervened last year and we had a strong car there in practice before the
rain." The 22-year-old driver explained. "We have had very strong cars this year, but just
haven't quite had things go our way yet in the races. But I was really proud of the effort at
Auto City. We broke the track record and was working to take the lead late in the race
when an electrical gremlin showed up and dampened the efforts." He added.
The last race overall in CRA came with the ARCA/CRA Super Series at Kalamazoo Speedway back on August 13th in the Template Super Late Model portion of the Kalamazoo Klash. After qualifying seventh quick, Finley got up into the top five for a solid fifth place showing. "I hadn't seen Kalamazoo since I was 14 years old." Laughed the Great Lakes State driver. "We had a pretty good car, but I just didn't do a good enough job to keep up with the track and unfortunately we just were too tight to race with Kyle (Busch) and Johnny (VanDoorn). But we came out with a top five finish and we're looking to improve on that and hopefully contend for the Win at Owosso." He stated.
In between CRA races, Finley and crew has also been working on their new Outlaw Super Late Model. After a recent announcement of a partnership with Great Lakes Helicopter Racing, Finley will make his first start for the team at the 26th Running of the Glass City 200 on Saturday, September 20th at Toledo Speedway (OH). "I really appreciate John & Meloney Lojko for giving me the opportunity to run the Glass City 200 for them. I'm extremely grateful for that." He stated.
If that wasn't enough, Finley has also been doing some racing with his Dirt Super Late Model primarily in the home state of Michigan. "We've been racing up the road from our shop and have had a couple good solid top fives at Tri-City Motor Speedway. We are still learning the dirt. Getting better just a ways to go yet. Looking forward to the fall races this year and hopefully we can pick up a few wins before the year ends." Finley ended.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Finley will run in mainly high-profile Super Late Model races throughout the country primarily in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. He'll also race in events within the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, ARCA Midwest Tour and the Southern Super Series. On some off weekends, Finley will also compete in an Outlaw Bodied Super Late Model in the Great Lakes Helicopter Main Event Series and has added some shows on dirt in his new UMP DIRTcar Late Model at select tracks around his home state of Michigan.
