Nikky Saxon Battles Through To Finish 14th At Owosso Speedway
Final race of 2014 set for September 27-28th at Lucas Oil Raceway (Special from Saxon Racing)
September 10, 2014
New Palestine, Indiana (September 10, 2014) – Nikky Saxon drove to a 14th-place finish
at the Big 'O' Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Sept. 6 at Owosso Speedway in
her fourth  race in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour series.

Saxon, a 20-year-old motorsport engineering major, gained seven spots in her No. 56
Saxon Racing/J&J Financial Late Model throughout the race after qualifying 21st.

"I was very happy with the finish," Saxon said. "The whole event was difficult, but it was
fun to battle it out. There were times when I was weaving and dodging, but I made it
through in one piece, and that's always a good thing."

But it wasn't easy. Changing track conditions made for a long afternoon and evening.

"Qualifying was a struggle," Saxon said. "It was by far the most difficult qualifying I have
had in the series. The sun was right at my eye level, and I couldn't see anything between
Turn 2 and Turn 3."

There was no scheduled practice the day before Race Day like previous events. So
Saxon only had a short time to prepare before qualifying and the subsequent 100-lap race
Saturday night on the half-mile asphalt oval, a new track for her.

"From practice and qualifying to the race the track changed, and the car was night and
day," Saxon said. "I was just working with the car and lines trying to get everything
together. The track was almost like you were on a roller coaster, and there were multiple
racing lines. Overall, it was a good experience learning the track while racing."

The finish was Saxon's best since her 12th-place finish in the Powers Automotive 100 in
July at Angola Motorsport Speedway in Angola, Indiana. It also was a strong rebound
from her last event, in which she didn't start the feature due to engine problems.

Saxon will be back on the track for the final race of her partial season for the JEGS/CRA
All-Stars Tour Sept. 27-28 at Lucas Oil Raceway near Indianapolis.
