Salem, Indiana (August 5, 2014) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet
Performance will head to Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan for this Saturday’s Auto
City 100 Presented by JEGS.com. This will be the third visit to the tricky 7/16’s mile
semi-banked paved oval were a huge field of 31 cars are currently entered to try to get
into the feature to battle it out for 100 laps. Last year Birch Run, Michigan native Robbie
Johnson came away with the big hometown win after taking the lead on lap 86 when
leader David McManus and second place Scott Neal tangled resulting in a spin and both
cars going to the tail.
Topping the list of entries is current series point’s leader Dan Leeck, also from Birch Run,
just down the road from Auto City Speedway. Leeck comes in to Saturday night’s event
with a 17 point lead over Josh Nelms, who is also entered. Leeck is looking to pick up his
first series win along with building on his Championship points lead at one of his home
tracks. Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing Rookie Grant
Quinlan, a winner at Salem Speedway in June, has now moved into third place in series
points, 26 points behind Nelms and seven points ahead of fellow rookie Dalton Armstrong. Both rookies are entered for Saturday’s event along with fifth place in points Corey Deuser.
Other series drivers entered include Columbus series winner Hunter Baize, Dominique Van Wieringen, Jaxson Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, Jordan Miller, Jack Smith, Jerry Andrews, Jordan Sims, Eric Lee, Jay Sommers, Nikky Saxon and fellow Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing rookies Tristan Van Wieringen and Cole Rouse.
Several talented part-time series drivers are entered including Lakeland, Florida native Steve Dorer who picked up his first series win at the series last event on July 26th at Anderson Speedway. Michigan native Chad Finley is entered, Finley has three series wins in his career, two at Columbus Motor Speedway and one at Springport Motor Speedway. 2013 series Champion and two time series winner Cody Coughlin is entered, Coughlin has been racing a part-time ARCA Racing Series and ARCA/CRA Super Series schedule in 2014 and will make another selected start with the JEGS Tour on Saturday at Auto City where he finished second last year. Illinois racer Kevin Zielezinski is entered to make his second start of the season in the Lorz Motorsports entry.
Robbie Johnson tops the list of locals entered as he looks to defend his 2013 win. Other local drivers entered include David McManus, who feels he has some unfinished business at Auto City after last year’s event. Hometown competitors Kyle Hayden and Trevor Berry will make another start with the series while another local competitor, Travis Eddy will make his series debut. Two other Michigan racers will make their 2014 series debuts, Mike Staszak in a team car to Finley and veteran template late model racer Bob Varney in the Pat Zorn owned car.
There is an open practice on Friday from 3pm until Dusk. Pit gates open on Saturday at 1:30pm, a one hour practice will begin for the series at 4pm with qualifying starting at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm and will include the Auto City 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Also racing on Saturday will be the Auto City Pure Stocks, Street Stocks as well as a Figure 8 feature.
