Hastings, Michigan (August 28, 2014) – While only making three starts so far in 2014, Lauren Bush
has made the most of those three races at her home track of Berlin Raceway (MI). The new mother
raced in both the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance and ARCA/CRA
Super Series Powered by JEGS portions of the Battle at Berlin 251 Weekend back on July 18-19th.
Then she raced in the Template Super Late Model portion of the special Wednesday, July 30th Money
in the Bank event also at Berlin.
It was in the Money in the Bank race where she grabbed a solid fifth place showing after a lengthy
battle with her father, three-time track champion, Joe Bush. Now she will take part in the final race of
the 2014 racing season at her home track; the Chet Mysliwiec Memorial Season Championships on
Saturday, August 30th. While she is not in the running for the tracks Boyne Machine Company Super
Late Model Series title, she hopes to play the role of the spoiler and come out of the event with a win.
Prior to the start of the 2014 racing season it was announced that she would join the
RacingAwareness.com Supporting Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Team for the 2014 racing season.
She would also be a teammate to Berlin Raceway veteran, Dave Lake and compete for the track's
Template Super Late Model Series Championship. However due to her absence, her Father has filled
in for her and is having a solid season as he's currently third in the track points standings with a
chance at surpassing Tom Thomas and Andrew Nylaan, both tied for the lead in the title chase.
"The last race was so much fun, so I am excited for this upcoming race and hoping for some more
good results." The 20-year-old stated as she prepares for her fourth start of the season. "Also, the
last race with two laps to go I caught up to my Dad and got to bang on his bumper a bit which was so
cool to have the opportunity to race competitively like that with him." She added.
The original plan for 2014 was for her to get behind the wheel of the car her Father is currently piloting
for the RacingAwareness.com team. But with the 47-year-old having such a terrific season, those
plans changed and she will again drive her own neon orange and white #101 with sponsorship support
from Port City Racecars as well as Enterprise Iron & Metal, and Liberty Muffler & Brake.
After Berlin, Bush plans on running a limited number of events within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
The first of those races is set for Saturday, September 6th at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked
paved oval of Owosso Speedway, located northeast of Lansing in Ovid, Michigan. the Big 'O' Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be the first opportunity for the Hastings, Michigan driver to race outside of Berlin in 2014. "I like traveling and experiencing different tracks so we plan to run a couple JEGS races before the season is over." She ended.
RacingAwareness.com is a 501c3 charity, and the team donates its earnings to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. The team was created in 2010 and has raised over $150,000 since its inception. The past two seasons, Dave Lake, a three-time track champion in three different divisions at Berlin, has driven the primary Super Late Model for the team and finished fourth this past season in the series points while he was seventh in 2012.
