Birch Run, Michigan (July 2, 2014) – As NASCAR Sprint Cup Spotter Earl Barban would
say, “New Leader: 12”. Those words are music to the ears of Dan Leeck & the Dan Leeck
Racing team, as the #12 team took the points lead after a 8th place run at the John Jones
Auto Group 100 at Salem Speedway on Saturday, June 21st.
On a very hot, muggy day at the high banked ½ mile (0.555) Salem Speedway in Salem,
Indiana, home of Champion Racing Association, Leeck qualified 9th and worked his way
into the top 5 before getting spun late in the race. A hard charge back to the front, which
included a hard battle with JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour Championship contender Josh
Nelms, helped him salvage what looked like a top 5 run.
“It was a frustrating day for sure. The car was very fast but we just never could get the
track position we needed. You’ll have these kinds of nights in racing; time to start
focusing on Angola,“ Leeck said.
The night was not a total lost for Dan & the Dan Leeck Racing team though. Despite a
frustrating night, Dan took the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour Championship points lead. He
looks to extend his points lead this weekend at the tricky, banked 3/8’s (0.375) mile
Angola Motorsport Speedway in Angola, Indiana, in the running of the Powers Automotive
100 Presented by JEGS.com on Saturday, July 5th, 2014.
The Saturday running of the Powers Automotive 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be the first ever appearance for the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour. This however, is not the first time Champion Racing Association has raced at the Indiana speedway. The ARCA/CRA Super Series, along with the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks last raced at Angola Motorsport Speedway during the 2011 season.
“Angola (Motorsport Speedway) is my type of track, it reminds me of a couple of tracks I grew up racing on, Owosso Speedway & Whittemore Speedway, “ Dan added.
