Birch Run, Michigan (June 17, 2014) – A month is a long time. A month off from racing for
a racecar driver is even longer; ask Dan Leeck. Last time Dan & his Dan Leeck Racing
team raced they scored a Top 5 run at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio in
the running of the Agroscapes 100 Presented by SizzleMarine.com & JEGS.com.
Leeck would qualify (8th and start 2nd on the outside of the front row next to ARCA
Racing Series driver JJ Haley, who is also the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour point leader.
Leeck looked to have cleared Haley going into turn 1 on lap 2, but a multi-car pile-up in
turns 3 & 4 resulted in a complete restart. The #12 Mr. Asphalt Chevrolet never dropped
out of the top 5. He battled with 2013 JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour Champion Cody Coughlin
for over half the race, once again showing that his fantastic 2013 season was not a fluke
and that Dan Leeck Racing is a true contender.
“It is always fun to race with Cody, we had a good battle. The car just got a little to free
and that’s all I had. We are getting closer,” Leeck said.
Leeck currently sits 2nd in JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour points, just 7 points behind the leader. Next up for Dan & his Dan Leeck Racing team is a trip to the tricky, high-banked Salem Speedway (0.555) in Salem, Indiana, for the running of the John Jones Auto Group 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Last season Leeck, in his first ever appearance scored a top 5 finish at Salem Speedway.
“I’ve been ready to go racing again since Columbus,” Leeck laughed, “I think we will have a good car there (Salem Speedway). My Crew Chief Neil (May) is really good at these high-speed, high-banked tracks like Salem Speedway & Winchester Speedway. Setting fast time at Winchester last fall has given us confidence in our program.”
