Georgetown, Indiana (June 17, 2014) – The sophomore season of JEGS/CRA All-Stars
Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance racing for Corey Deuser hasn't gone quite
according to plan as of yet. The 16-year-old is fourth in points after three points races, but
it's not what Deuser was hoping for. A sixth place showing at the 2014 season opener at
Springport Motor Speedway (MI) is the best finish he has garnered so far and he knows
he's better than that and hopes to prove it at the next race, which just happens to be at
his home track.
The historic 0.555 mile high-banked paved oval of Salem Speedway, located just 30
minutes from the Deuser Motorsports race shop in Salem, Indiana is the next race on the
schedule. The John Jones Auto Group 100 Presented by Mountaineer Firewood &
JEGS.com is set for Saturday, June 21st. Deuser knows he's in a good position to gain
some valuable points in the chase for the 2014 series championship and those solid runs
hopefully begins with a good finish at Salem.
"We've got the car ready to go to Salem Speedway, one of my favorite places. Been there
many times before not only watching but testing." The Georgetown, Indiana teenager
stated. "So I hope to end the streak of bad luck there and bring home a win at my home
track. Our finishes haven't been what this team deserves. I know we're better than what
we've shown. We'll be ok, just need to get on a roll." He added.
In the last race, the Agroscapes 100 Presented by SizzleMarine.com back on Saturday, May 24th at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio. The circular shaped 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval would see Deuser have to use an owners points provisional and start in 24th. After overcoming several obstacles, the Hoosier State teenager worked his way up to a 13th place finish.
"At Columbus we didn't have the best run possible, but made the best out of a bad weekend. We went into the race with high hopes and feeling like I had the car to redeem ourselves from I-44." He continued. "The track changed a lot from Friday to Saturday and had to make more changes than we expected. (Crew Chief) Jim (Robinson) and I got to talking about the car and broke down to the exact problem and was able to fix it, but not in time to make it out before the end of practice."
"Qualifying was hard to swallow going out third the car it was a good first two laps, but I drove it in way to deep and got loose and lost my money lap. Taking a provisional wasn’t what we had in mind but we were fortunate enough to have used it." Deuser added. "Starting that far back was going to be a challenge. We luckily missed the big wreck going into turn three and gained spots which was a big break. I battled a loose car for most the race until the final caution we came down a made an air pressure adjustment. 13th isn’t bad but not what my team deserves." He ended.
After three points races within the 2014 racing season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Deuser is sitting in a good spot early on in the points despite a self described slow start. The 2013 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year is fourth in the standings and just 24 points out of the points lead. Still a good start so far for the Georgetown, Indiana driver in his sophomore season
In addition to the JEGS/CRA schedule in 2014, Deuser will also race as often as his JEGS/CRA schedule allows at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN) in the Big Machine Challenge Series. Later in the season, Deuser also plans on making his debut in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS as he'll make select appearances in CRA's premier tour before making a run for the series Rookie of the Year title in 2015.
For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, Deuser's familiar red and black entries will be sporting a new number on the side of his Port City Racecars / Ford Fusions; #71, which will have a McGunegill Engine Performance crate motor under the hood and sponsorship support and decals from Focus Eyewear as well as Deuser Electric, ARC Construction Management, ASB Custom Homes, Off Axis Paint, Lucas Oil Products, Fast Track and M.P.H. Promotions.
