June 16, 2014 - Event Information
Salem, Indiana (June 16, 2014) – When the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour returns to Salem
Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery on Saturday night, June 21st for the John Jones
Auto Group Midwest 150 presented by Mountaineer Firewood the annual late model race
will have a definite local flavor.  The Kentuckiana area will be represented by no less than
seven drivers looking to crack the starting line-up in the 100-lap short-track classic.

Drivers from nine states and Canada have already filed entries for the only late model
race of the season at Salem with Kentucky and Indiana offering up a strong list of
competitors.

“It’s always good to see drivers with local ties go head-to-head with some of the best
short-track pavement teams in the nation,” said track general manager Richard Deaton.

Heading the list of local drivers is Chuck Barnes Jr. of Louisville.  The former Salem
Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery track champion, a 21-time race winner on the
Salem high banks, set quick time during qualifications for the 2013 Midwest 100.  The
second generation driver was battling for the lead when he was sidelined by an accident
midway through the race.  He ended up a disappointing 17th in the final standings.

Mason Mingus, who is competing fulltime with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2014, is another driver with local ties that has filed a pre-race entry.  Mingus, who has family in the Louisville area, is a former late model winner at Salem and ARCA Racing Series competitor.  The 19-year-old Brentwood, Tenn., driver finished runner-up to Frank Kimmel in the 2013 ARCA Racing Series standings.

Adding to the Kentuckiana flavor of the event will be Cole Williams of Sellersburg, Ind., Hunter Baize of Bremen, Ky., Jeff Berg of Louisville, Corey Deuser of Lanesville, Ind., Kevin Willis of Shepherdsville, Ky., Winston Wood of Bloomington, Ind., and Dakota Stroup of Owensboro.

Other top drivers expected include Dan Leeck of Birch Run, Mich., Dominique Van Wieringen of Amherstburg, Ontario, Josh Nelms of Lockport, Ill., Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind., Tristan Van Wieringen of Amherstburg, Ontario and Cole Rouse of Fort Smith, Ark., among others.

Through five races this season the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour has produced four different winners.

According to JEGS/CRA All-Stars tour officials a full field of 24 plus late models are expected for the 100-lap main event on Saturday evening.

An open practice session for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars is set to take place on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Spectators are invited to view practice from the grandstand area at no admission charge.

Joining the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery will be the Lucas Oil Great American Stocks (GAS), the O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and the Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks.

Spectator gates open on Saturday (June 21) and practice begins at 3:30 p.m., with qualifications at 6 p.m. and the first race rolling off at 7:10 p.m.
