Georgetown, Indiana (May 21, 2014) – Two races into the 2014 racing season for the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, 16-year-old Corey Deuser
is sitting in a good spot early on in the points. The 2013 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of
the Year is third in the standings only four markers out of the lead. A good start so far for
the Georgetown, Indiana driver in his sophomore season even with a 'DNF' in the last race.
The 2nd Annual Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 Presented by JEGs.com was the next
race for Deuser and crew as the 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Lebanon I-44
Speedway located southwest of St. Louis in Lebanon, Missouri hosted the tour on
Saturday, May 17th. After qualifying a disappointing 22nd in the 33-car field, Deuser had to
take a JEGS/CRA Owners Points provisional to get into the show. Then on lap 95 of the
144-lap main, the rear end went out on his machine leaving Deuser with a 28th place
showing. With all teams on the property guaranteed at least 80 points for the weekend,
Deuser was actually able to move up the ladder in points from fourth to third.
"Lebanon wasn't the run we expected to. We felt like we had a good handling race car but
just couldn't get the speed down the straights and that hurt us all weekend."Explained the
Hoosier State teenager. "I know the car was good and would be good in the race but I had
to get in the show. After the last practice on Saturday we found a problem with our gear
and the guys worked hard to get it changed. We got it straightened out and put the other gear back in, but still didn't have the speed and wasn't able to make the show on times and took the provisional." He added.
"We started pretty far back but was able to move up a couple spots. It was a pretty green race and we were trying to ride and get to the break but at lap 95 the rear end broke and wasn't able to continue on." Deuser continued. "It was disappointing but fortunately we were able to have this issue at a race where the points where the same from 10th on back."
The next race on the JEGS/CRA schedule will be the Agroscapes 100 Presented by SizzleMarine.com on Saturday, May 24th at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio. The circular shaped 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval is a track that he looks forward to getting back to. "I'm looking forward to Columbus this weekend. We had a really good car last year and until the electrical issue. We were making our way back up through the field after contact with another car. I'm looking to make this a good turnaround weekend and bring home a top five finish." He ended.
In addition to the JEGS/CRA schedule in 2014, Deuser will also race as often as his JEGS/CRA schedule allows at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN) in the Big Machine Challenge Series. Later in the year Deuser also plans on making his debut in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS as he'll make select appearances in CRA's premier tour before making a run for the series Rookie of the Year title in 2015.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Deuser's familiar red and black entries will be sporting a new number on the side of his Port City Racecars / Ford Fusions; #71, which will have a McGunegill Engine Performance crate motor under the hood and sponsorship support and decals from Focus Eyewear as well as Deuser Electric, ARC Construction Management, ASB Custom Homes, Off Axis Paint, Lucas Oil Products, Fast Track and M.P.H.
