Salem, Indiana (May 20, 2014) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet
Performance will head to Columbus Motor Speedway, located in Columbus, Ohio this
Saturday for the Agroscapes 100 Presented by Sizzle Marine.com and JEGS.com. The
event will be the third race of the 2014 season for the crate motor template bodied series
sanctioned by Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS after its season opener
at Springport Motor Speedway on May 3rd were rookie J.J. Haley got the win and last
Saturday’s Mercy Masters of the Pro’s 144 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, were Anderson
Bowen came away with the big victory.
Michigan native Chad Finley has made Columbus Motor Speedway one of his favorite
tracks with back to back victories in the last two series events at Columbus in 2012 and
2013 and holds the series track record. This year will see Finley returning in a different
role to Columbus as crew chief for Chad Finley Development Driver Grant Quinlan. The 15
year old Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing competitor will have
the setup usually under Finley’s car in his #28, in his first ever visit to Columbus in a
stock car.
Current series Championship point’s leader and rookie points’ leader J.J. Haley tops the
list of series regulars entered for Columbus. Haley comes into Saturday’s event with a
three point lead over Dan Leeck. Corey Deuser is one point behind Leeck in third place, while Josh Nelms is in fourth, six points behind Deuser. Rookie Dalton Armstrong is currently in fifth place, he is only four points behind Nelms. All the top five drivers are entered for Saturday’s race.
Other top series regulars who are entered include Dominique Van Wieringen and her brother, rookie competitor Tristan. Brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs are also entered along with Hunter Baize, Jordan Miller, Jay Sommers, Keith Sterkowitz and rookies Cole Rouse, Chris Hacker and Amber Slagle.
2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Cody Coughlin, from Delaware, Ohio, will make his first start of the season with the series. Coughlin is competing in a partial season schedule with the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and in select ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS Tour events during the 2014 season. Coughlin was a two time series winner in 2013 with wins at Dixie Motor Speedway and Salem Speedway.
Veteran Ohio late model and modified racer Mike Stacy of Enon, Ohio is entered in the Agroscapes, Sizzle Marine.com, Howe Racing Ford for KMS Racing based out of Lewis Center, Ohio. Ohio part-time CRA competitors Brandon Oakley from Beavercreek, Ohio and Kyle Jones from Germantown are also entered.
New Palestine, Indiana racer Nicky Saxson is set to make her series debut on Saturday as she runs in selected series events in 2014 to get ready for a full season in 2015. Canadian racer Jordan Sims and Michigan racer Kyle Hayden, both part-time CRA competitors, will each make their second JEGS Tour starts of the season Saturday at Columbus.
Veteran late model competitor Chris Davidson will make the long haul from Pearland, Texas to compete in Saturday night’s event. It will be his first ever JEGS Tour event and his first ever visit to Columbus Motor Speedway. Davidson has been a regular competitor in the Gulf Coast late model events at Five Flags Speedway, including several starts in the famed Snowflake and Snowball Derby events.
There will be an open practice on Friday, pit gates open at 4pm with practice going from 5 to 8pm. On Saturday pit gates will open for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour teams at 12:30pm. Practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying for the series at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Agroscapes 100 Presented by Sizzle Marine.com and JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. Also racing on Saturday night will be the Columbus Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Stocks and Compacts.
