Noblesville, Indiana (May 1, 2014) – Chris Hacker knows that to compete for the Howie
Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance, that he's going to have to be on top of his game every night out.
Adding to the difficulty is that 10 of the 14 scheduled races within the 2014 JEGS/CRA
schedule are at tracks the 14-year-old has never seen before. So he knows he better be
really good at the tracks he does know and adapt quickly to those he doesn't.
The Noblesville, Indiana teenager hasn't been just sitting around waiting for the season to
start either. Hacker does have two starts already under his belt with both of those coming
in the first two events of the Vore's Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Powered
by JEGS. Hacker won the Anderson 75 at Anderson Speedway (IN) on March 30th and
would then finish eighth in the 5th annual March of Dimes Cabin Fever Championships at
Lucas Oil Raceway (IN). Both races were designed to simply shake off the rust with the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour season lurking.
Now the 2013 CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Rookie of the Year will focus all of his
efforts on the JEGS/CRA season as the Hoosier State teen will make a run at the 2014
Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title starting on Sunday, May 4th at the 3/8s
(0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway. The track located
north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan will host running of the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
"I'm really excited for my first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race this weekend at Springport. I am focusing all of my attention on winning the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title and also making a run for the point's championship." Hacker relayed as he and his Chris Hacker Motorsports Team continue preparations for the trip north to Michigan. "I'm really looking forward to racing at the different tracks in the series." He added.
At just 13 years old, the 2013 racing season was one to remember for Hacker, who made the move up to a full-bodied stock car from Legends cars and competed in the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. His efforts were rewarded as he was crowned the 2013 Rookie of the Year with one win, which came at Anderson Speedway (IN) on July 19, 2013 during the tracks prestigious Redbud Weekend. His win accounted for one of his two top five finishes to go with seven top 10s.
Hacker was born with a Brachial Plexus Injury to his left arm that occurred during birth. The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that control the muscles of the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, hand, and fingers. He has had to have had three major surgeries which include nerve grafting and tendon transfers. In addition, he does not have full range of motion with his left arm and it is much weaker than his right arm. He races mainly with the strength of his right arm.
"I have never let it slow me down. I can do anything anyone else can do," Hacker offered when talking about his disability. "I just sometimes have to do it just a little bit differently. I actually don’t think of my arm as a disability, I think of it as an ability because it makes me work harder.” He ended.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Hacker's popular white Chris Hacker Motorsports #24's Chevrolets in both the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour as well as the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will carry sponsorship decals and support from Phantom Race Gear as well as T.J.
