Concord, North Carolina (May 13, 2014) – 2012 Late Model Rookie of the year, and
runner up in the 2012 and 2013 championship points contender Matt Wallace will return
to the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway for another shot at the Mercy Masters
of the Pro 144 on Saturday May 17 in the same car his sister won a championship in and
that he drove the last two seasons.
The Mike Wallace Racing number 6W, Hamke Chassis, McGunegill powered entry will
have sponsorship from Lucas Oil, Dan Althoff Trucking, Eibach and Auto Bargain Center.
Matt is looking forward to coming back to the track where he got his late model career
started. “We bought the car from Mike Scott at the end of the season because it has
been a great car to our family. We have completely stripped the car and rebuilt from the
ground up, so it’s like a new car.” Calling the shots from the pit box will be North
Carolina’s chassis builder Robbie Hamke Jr.
After two very successful seasons in the Pro Late Model division, Matt wanted to do
some travelling and take on some different tracks this year. The first race of his 2014
season is at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. “We have been very good here and won a lot of
races. It just made sense to start our season here because we wanted the car to be
right and this is a great facility”, said Wallace. “We plan on a good qualifying effort with
Robbie on the box and we will use his expertise to get us to the front and hopefully in
Victory Lane.”
