Clio Michigan (April 30, 2014) – Trevor Berry is like plenty of other drivers from around the
country. All he wants is that one chance, that one moment where he can prove to the
racing world that he has the talent to take him far in the motorsports world. He's gone the
open-wheeled route and has enjoyed success from the time he was nine years old all the
way up to the 2013 racing season when he raced in the ultra-sleek Supermodifieds. Now
the time has come for the 21-year-old to take that next step in his budding racing career
and that means adding fenders.
For the 2014 racing season, Berry plans on running a select number of events in the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance as well as the vast
majority of the remaining schedule of races within the Top Speed Fabrication ICAR
Modifieds Tour. The first race of the year for Berry and his Berry Racing Incorporated team
is on Sunday, May 4th at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) for the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-
Stars Tour season opener; the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com
"I have been anxiously waiting to get behind the wheel of our Late Model. I'm super excited
for Springport, although I've never raced there. I've been to a few races and it looks like a
fun place to race." The Clio, Michigan resident stated. "You can pass on the top if you have too or the bottom. Which makes for exciting racing for us and the fans. The main goal for us at Springport is to absorb as much information as we can and to bring the car home in one piece. "
"With limited sponsorship if I go out and wreck in the first race, then my season is over and we can't have that." Berry continued as he and his Berry Racing Incorporated team continues preparations for his Late Model debut. "I'm hoping to get a good qualifying effort, start toward the front and ride until Dad (Car Owner & Crew Chief, Dennis Berry) says go." He ended. Dennis Berry, elected into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2012, was a Three-Time ICEMAN Super Car Series Champion from 1994-1996 and arguably one of the most accomplished Super Late Model pilots of all-time in the Midwestern United States.
Berry began his racing career in Quarter Midgets and raced in the scaled down machines from 2002-2005. He was the 2012 Rookie of the Year Waterford Speedway and during his time in the class earned two Mid-Michigan Racing Association Driver of the Year awards. In 2005, he collected four championships; Light 160 MMRA Champion, Senior Honda MMRA Champion, Light 160 Region 4 Champion and Light 160 Tri-City Champion. During his Quarter Midget career he scored over Feature Wins including the Motor City Meltdown in 2003, the Rumble in Ft. Wayne Indoor Light 160 Feature and the 2005 Buckeye Winter Nationals Light 160 title.
In 2005 he also started racing Bandoleros and won three features in seven starts including the K.O.I.L. Tour Nationals at Kentucky Motor Speedway. The quick move up to Micro Sprints was the plan for 2006 and from then until 2009 he scored over 20 Feature wins at various tracks in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois including the restrictor nationals at US24 Speedway in Logansport, Indiana.
His first full-sized race car experience came in the open-wheeled Modifieds starting in 2010 and in 2011; he scored two Feature Wins and seven Fast Qualifier Awards. The 2012 campaign would see Berry capture the Top Speed Fabrication ICAR Modifieds Tour Championship as well as the Non-Winged Sprints Track championship and Rookie of the Year title at Spartan Speedway (MI). Between the two classes and in 23 Starts that year, he racked up seven Feature Wins, 19 top fives and an impressive 21 top 10s. In 2013 he competed primarily with the MSA Supermodifieds Series and picked up one Fast Qualifier Award as well as four top fives and six top 10s.
For the 2014 racing season, Berry will focus his efforts on his #1 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Late Model fitted on a Port City Racecars chassis with power from McGunegill Engine Performance, as well as his #7 open-wheeled Modified as he'll make appearances in both JEGS/CRA as well as in the Top Speed ICAR Modifieds Tour as his schedules allow. Both cars will carry sponsorship decals and support from Hearts & Hands Home Health Care as well as Davis Racing Equipment, Andrea's Place Styling Salon, Skateland Arena and M.P.H. Promotions.
