Georgetown, Indiana (March 21, 2014) – Corey Deuser is coming off a successful 2013
racing season where he captured the coveted Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year
Title in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. The 16-year-
old has spent the entire off-season preparing for a highly anticipated sophomore season
behind the wheel of his Pro Late Model and now all that preparation
Deuser will get on the track for the first time in 2014 armed with a new number, #71, at
the historic 0.596 mile high-banked paved oval of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in
Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, April 5th in the tracks season opener for the Big
Machine Challenge Series for Pro Late Models. Deuser's 2014 debut will be in a 100-lap
main paying $5,000 to the winner as part of the tracks eight-race series for Pro Late
Models (JEGS/CRA type) with the season finale to be held as part of the 30th running of
the All-American 400 Weekend on October 31-November 1st.
"I've never raced on the big track there before. In 2009 I ran the little track on the inside,
but other than that I have no experience on that track," Laughed the Georgetown, Indiana
teenager who has a win at another legendary high-banked paved oval, Winchester
Speedway to his credit. "But I've talked to some people that have ran there and it sounds
like a fun track so I'm really looking forward to getting out there." He added.
Once the Nashville race is complete, all focus for Deuser and his Deuser Motorsports Team shifts over to making a run at the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship beginning on Sunday, May 4th at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan for the running of the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
In addition to the JEGS/CRA schedule, Deuser will also race as often as possible back at Nashville in the Big Machine Challenge Series. Later in 2014, Deuser also plans on making his debut in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS as he'll make select appearances in CRA's premier tour before embarking on a run for the series Rookie of the Year title in 2015. "Deuser Motorsports is looking forward to 2014 season. We feel we should be real contenders for the title as long as we don't get caught up in the sophomore slump." Added Deuser Motorsports Crew Chief, Jim Robinson.
"I feel like this year will be a good year for us. I hope we can have the season we did last year just with some better luck in the first few races on the schedule." Deuser continued. "We had a really good year last year in my opinion. We led laps and we were able to capture a victory, plus improve finishes on some tracks we struggled at like Winchester and LOR (Lucas Oil Raceway)."
As for winning the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in 2013, expectations are high for Deuser coming into his sophomore campaign. "Winning the ROTY was a great honor. It really feels good to get that award and always good have it to put on a resume." Deuser added. "We hope that we can make this season a great one and it would be an honor to be a champion in the same series as Erik Jones, Daniel Hemric and Cody Coughlin. But we will keep our heads on straight and dig and work hard week in and week out." He ended.
During the 2013 season, Deuser was the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the premier template bodied / crate motor series in the country. Joining Cody Coughlin (2011) and Anderson Bowen (2012) on that prestigious list. He also finished second in the final JEGS/CRA points standings while garnering his first career Win on the Tour in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN) on October 11th during the Winchester 400 Weekend. He also collected five top five finishes and eight top 10 showings in 13 overall JEGS/CRA events.
