Bremen, Kentucky (December 9, 2014) – 17-year-old Hunter Baize just wrapped up his first Snowball Derby weekend with a successful run in the Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100.
Baize locked himself into the Snowflake 100 after two lengthy rain delays halted all on-track activity. Early Sunday morning, Baize, along with 35 other drivers rolled off the grid for 100 green flag laps at Five Flags (FL) Speedway. Starting 25th, he began to work his way through the field avoiding two early wrecks. He would finish 11th right behind ARCA Racing Series driver Anderson Bowen and NASCAR driver Johanna Long.
"The guys gave me a great race car," Baize said. "We knew it would race well but weren't sure if it had the speed to make the race. Once we qualified in on time, we knew we were in good shape. I can't thank everyone involved enough for the hard work this past week; it was a blast!"
The Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 has become one of the most prestigious Pro Late Model races in the country. This year, nearly 80 Pro-Late Model race teams were in attendance, the most since 2007. Mountaineer Firewood, B&K Wood Products, Wood-Mizer and Steel City Bolt sponsored Baize's No. 13 VanDoorn Racing Development Ford for the event.
