Winamac, Indiana (December 1, 2014) – J.J. Haley will wrap up the 2014 racing
season with two of the biggest races of his career. The Winamac, Indiana teenager
will take his Super Late Model and Pro Late Model down to Five Flags Speedway in
Pensacola, Florida to compete in the 47th Annual Snowball Derby, the most
prestigious short track event in the country, from December 3-7th. Haley will
compete in the Snowflake 100 on Saturday night, December 6th before taking the
green flag for the 300-lap Snowball Derby on Sunday afternoon, December 7th.
"I’m looking forward to getting back down to Florida and not just because of the
warm weather. I truly feel like our JJ. Haley Racing team has shown progress
throughout the year." Offered the 15-year-old driver. "Every time we go to a track,
we start learning more and more about are cars, and get them dialed in. Racing in
two of the main classes this year will get me plenty of time on the track. I know
that our team can compete for both wins. We went to test last week and both of
our cars were really strong. I’m pumped to be able to work with the guys and
come out with what I know will be a strong finish." He added.
Haley actually made his Pro Late Model debut in last year's Snowflake 100 where
he qualified into the show at 29th and would finish 21st against the top Pro Late
Model teams in the country. This time around, Haley will not only look to improve
on his performance from last years' Snowflake, but he also hopes to make his first career start in the headlining race of the weekend, the 300-lap Snowball Derby for Super Late Models.
Looking back, Haley has had a hectic season competing in 31 events in a wide variety of machines, from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series in both the East and West divisions to the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards to the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the Hoosier State teenager has seen plenty of track time at a slew of facilities around the country.
"The 2014 season has been one to remember. I have been able to accomplish so many of my goals and achieve things that I never would have guessed could happen." Haley continued as he and his J.J. Haley Racing Team venture south to the Sunshine State. "I am so lucky to have the people and support around me. I can't thank everyone enough for all they have done to help me succeed." He ended.
Amongst the season accomplishments for Haley include his first ever win in a Late Model when he scored the victory in the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Opener at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) on May 4th. Despite missing several races in JEGS/CRA, Haley managed an 11th place finish in the final points standings as in addition to his win, he also has five top five finishes and eight top 10 showings as well as one Fast Qualifier Award. Also in five ARCA/CRA Super Series starts, he secured two top 10s with a career high seventh place effort in the 43rd Running of the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway (IN) on October 12th.
In four total NASCAR K&N Pro Series events, one in the West, his most recent outing, along-with three races with the East division, his best finish was in the last NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at the 'Monster Mile'; Dover International Speedway (DE) in Dover, Delaware as the Drive Sober 150 was on September 26th. Haley scored an impressive seventh place showing, a career high in K&N Pro Series competition, after also qualifying seventh quick. In two previous K&N East starts he finished 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) and 24th at Iowa Speedway (IA). His lone West appearance resulted in a 26th place finish after engine woes plagued his efforts.
Haley also made six starts for Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and scored one top five finish, a third at Elko Speedway (MN) on June 21st in the Akona 250 Presented by Federated Car Care. He also scored four top 10s and one Menards Pole Award, which also came at Elko. Back on May 18th at Toledo Speedway (OH), Haley became the youngest driver in ARCA Racing Series history to start a race and at Elko became the youngest ever Pole Award Winner. In both cases and in rewriting both records, he erased Kyle Benjamin's name from the lists.
For the Snowball Derby weekend, both of Haley's black #99 Braun Ability / J.J. Haley Racing / Chevrolets will have veteran Crew Chief, Bobby Blount calling the shots on top of the pit box. Both cars will also be sporting sponsorship decals and support from Braun Auto Group as well as Two Guys Mechanical, JMR Trucking, T.J. Racing Lubricants and M.P.H. Promotions.
