Corunna, Michigan (December 10, 2014) – DuroByte Motorsports is looking ahead
to the future with their Driver Development program. With Dominique Van Wieringen
moving on to NEMCO Motorsports with Joe and John Hunter Nemechek, who just
won the 47th annual Snowball Derby, DuroByte was left with a void in the primary
seat in their stable. That hole was filled with the addition of 16-year-old Kody Evans
who joins the team for the upcoming 2015 racing season.
Plans for the upcoming 2015 campaign for DuroByte call for Evans, in a
renumbered #4 DuroByte Motorsports entry, to make a run at the JEGS/CRA All-
Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship. The new year and
combination will get their feet wet with SpeedFest 2015 on Saturday-Sunday,
January 24-25th at Watermelon Capital Speedway, located south of Macon and
north of the Florida / Georgia state line in Cordele, Georgia.
"I'm excited and looking forward to the 2015 racing season with DuroByte
Motorsports," The Camden, Ohio driver stated after the official announcement of
him joining DuroByte. "The crew is working very hard and I think this will be a very
successful and exciting season. I can't wait to get down to Cordele and to work
with everybody for the first time. I've raced there last year and I really liked the
track. Hopefully we'll go down there and start off our season on the right foot, with
a solid finish." He added.
After racing in Go-Karts since he was four years old, including a championship at just eight years old, Evans made his first start in a full-sized stock car at just 13. In 2013 at 14 years old, Evans ran full-time in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour where he finished sixth in a loaded Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year class. He also grabbed a 10th place finish overall in the points standings which include one top five finish, an impressive fourth at the famed high-banks of Salem Speedway (IN) to go with four top 10s. In 2014 in limited appearances in JEGS/CRA, he collected three top 10s, all seventh place finishes which were at Salem, Winchester Speedway (IN) and Lucas Oil Raceway (IN).
"All of us at DuroByte Motorsports are very excited for the 2015 season. I love working with the young talents in our sport and Kody (Evans) has shown he is definitely a talented driver." Added Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith. "Our venture together is only just beginning and he is showing all of us just how passionate he is for the sport. I cannot wait to see the success this new combination is going to bring next season." He added.
A solid winning program which is capable of producing winners is already in place at DuroByte Motorsports. In two seasons within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, DuroByte produced the first rookie ever to win a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour point's race when Dominique Van Wieringen went to victory lane at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on September 22, 2013. In winning the 2013 CRA Fall Brawl, Van Wieringen was also the first female winner in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour history on her way to a runner-up showing in that years' Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title chase.
The existing staff at DuroByte Motorsports will remain intact for the 2015 season led by veteran Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith continuing to lead the program. The team remains based in Corunna, Michigan. For more information, please email the team at: info@durobytemotorsports.com
