Kansas City, Missouri (October 3, 2014) – It's been an adventurous first season
behind the wheel of a Late Model for Kansas City, Missouri teenager, Jacob Blair.
Plans for the 2014 racing season called for the 16-year-old to race at both his home
track of Lebanon I-44 Speedway (MO) in the tracks NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series Weekly Pro Late Models division as well as at Fairgrounds Speedway
Nashville (TN) in that tracks monthly Big Machine Records Pro Late Model division.
While making several appearances at both tracks, track time was what was needed
the most and the Show-Me State competitor did get some seat time in at both
places. His best finish at Lebanon I-44 was a seventh place effort in May while the
best showing in the Music City would be 13th place finish in April. After an expired
engine in June and then a hard crash in August, both in Nashville, Blair and the
team have regrouped and are ready to take the next step up the racing ladder
starting in 2015.
Plans for the 2015 racing season call for Blair to again run at his home track of
Lebanon I-44 Speedway in the tracks NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Weekly
Pro Late Models division. He also looks to make select appearances in the JEGS/
CRA All-Stars Tour and also run a dirt Modified within the local Kansas City area.
He'll get one last chance at a race yet this season when he jumps behind the wheel
of the Modified at Atchison County Raceway (KS) in Atchison, Kansas.
"We've got a new Port City car and we look forward to next year. We hope to have a great run and finish the season on a positive note." Blair stated. "Really looking forward to running the Modified for at least a weekend and it's close to home too. I really need to thank Burleson Orthodontics, Abacus Search, Pivot Companies and Honda of Tiffany Springs for all their support this year. Sponsors are a big deal and every one of them matter." He ended
Blair began his racing career in August of 2007 with the Kansas City Karting Association (KCKA) and one year later finished first in the KCKA Yamaha Sportsman Points Standings as well as second in the KCKA TAG 60 Points chase. In addition he was also third in the SKUSA CSC Yamaha Sportsman Points. In 2009, the team went racing with the Route 66 Series and scored several runner-up finishes to finish the season second in TAG 60 points.
In 2010 he made the jump to oval racing and won his first Mini Cup race at JRP Speedway in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also raced several events in a kart, moving up in class. He was 11 years of age racing against kids as much as four years his senior. His final year in karts found him racing with as many as 32 karts, and finishing as high as sixth. In 2011, Blair went full time oval racing with the Pro National Series Baby Grands and recorded several top fives to score a fifth place finish in the points. The 2012 season saw Blair finish one spot higher in fourth in the National Points.
During the 2013 season, Blair would collect three Feature Wins and eight top five finishes on his way to a runner-up showing in the Pro National Series Baby Grands. He also made the big move into a full sized Late Model running three races at Lebanon I-44 Speedway with a season high of a third place finish on September 7th. Two weeks later, Blair traveled to Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) and made his first career start in the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series where he finished 13th in a 26-car field.
In 2014 Blair's #81 Jacob Blair Racing / Port City Racecars Chevrolet carried sponsorship support and decals from P.I.P.E.
