Ohio Track will Host the First of the Major 200-Lap CRA Street Stock Events
February 11, 2014
Salem, Indiana (February 11, 2014) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials and officials from
Shady Bowl Speedway in DeGraff, Ohio announced today that they will be hosting a major event on the Stealth Trailers
CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS schedule.  A $3000 winner’s check will be on the line when local and CRA stars
take to the track for the 200 lap event on Saturday, April 19th.  Series officials expect to announce soon that this event
will kick off a Mini Series of 200-lap Street Stock events.  Shady Bowl Speedway joins Anderson Speedway and
Kentucky Motor Speedway in hosting 200-lap, signature events on the Stealth Trailer CRA Street Stocks schedule.

The 3/10’s mile track was built in the mid 1940’s.  Linda Young, matriarch of the local Mahaffey racing family,
purchased the speedway in 2011.  The new leadership has made exciting improvements to the facilities and events
since they began three years ago.  Paramount to their improvements was the repaving in 2012.

“Scheduling this type event is important to the Speedway” noted new Speedway Operations Manager Rick Young,
“We want to keep doing exciting events for the fans and the racers.”  Don Mahaffey went on to add, “We had a great
show and a great car count with the CRA Street Stocks a couple years ago and it was for only $750 to win.  This $3000 to Win event for street stocks should really kick things up a notch, and will bring together all the best street stock drivers around.  It’s a ‘Must See’ event for us in 2014!”

That 2012 CRA event was won by Midwest racing veteran Jeff Lane.  He is expected again to be a top competitor for this year’s Shady Bowl event, along with former CRA Street Stock champions Jimmy Kirby and Dustin Burge, and fellow top CRA competitors like Calvin Parham, Jason Atkinson, Tyler Marsh, Jason Thompson, J. J. Shafer and Jim Crabtree Jr.  They will have their hands full with Shady Bowl’s top drivers that include James Harding, the Roush family of drivers, Ricky Young, Josh Sage and the Snapp Family.

CRA co-owner R. J. Scott commented, “This is more great news for Street Stock racing, Shady Bowl and CRA.  Few tracks have the character and great racing that Shady Bowl does, and we are excited to be back there and work with all the great racers, staff and fans they have.  They are all a passionate bunch!”
