Salem, Indiana (August 6, 2014) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman
Powered by JEGS and the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will head
north to Angola Motorsports Speedway for a special Sunday afternoon event at the 3/8’s
mile banked track set on 78 acres in beautiful Steuben County, just outside of Angola,
Indiana. Both series last visited that track in 2011 were Jason Atkinson got the win in the
50 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman feature while Jeff Lane got the win the
50 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks feature in early July that season.
Sunday’s race will be the sixth of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model
Sportsman which opened their 2014 season at Anderson Speedway on March 29th, with
14 year old Chris Hacker getting the win. Trey Craig picked up the victory in the series
second event of the season at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 6th. Danny Trent got the win on
May 10th in the series third event of the season at Anderson Speedway. On June 13th
Greg Van Alst roared to victory in the Motion Motors 100 at Anderson Speedway,
collecting the season high $2000 winner’s payoff in the series biggest event of the season.
Jason Atkinson got the win in the series last event on July 5th at Anderson Speedway.
After five events in 2014, rookie Jack Dossey III has the series point’s lead by six points
over Van Alst as the series has reached the halfway point of its 2014 season. With his win
at Anderson on July 5th, Atkinson has moved into third place in series points, he is 17
points behind Van Alst. Billy Van Meter and Rookie J.P. Crabtree are tied for fourth place,
only seven points behind Atkinson.
Sunday’s event will pit the best of the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman against
the best of Angola’s Shepherd’s Chevrolet Buick GMC Late Models were 2012 CRA Late
Model Sportsman Champion KC Spillers is leading the points by three over Ronnie
Maynard. Cassten Everidge is in third place, Steven Woods in in fourth place with Brandon
Barcus in fifth place.
Sunday’s event will be the eighth race of the season for the Stealth Trailers CRA Street
Stocks. Winners so far in 2014 include Jason Atkinson at the season opener at Lucas Oil
Raceway on April 6th and at Anderson Speedway on July 12th. Josh Poore won the first
200 lap event of the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series at Shadybowl Speedway on
April 19th and at Anderson on May 3rd. Brett Hudson won the second 200 lap Triple Crown
event at Kentucky Motor Speedway on May 25th and Bret Miles Jr. won the final 200 lap
Triple Crown event at Anderson Speedway on June 21st. 2013 series Champion Dustin
Burge won the series last event, last Saturday night at Anderson Speedway.
Atkinson comes into Sunday’s event as the current series point’s leader after winning the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Points Championship and the $1000 cash bonus and Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing Championship Buckle. Atkinson has built a commanding 67 point lead with his two wins and steady top finishes over Burge, who has a 72 point lead over leading series rookie Jeff Johnson who is now in third place. Josh Lank has now moved up to fourth in points, he is 12 points behind Johnson. Fellow rookie Brandon Mefford is in fifth place, he is eight points behind Lank.
Several of the top drivers in the Angola Randy’s Trannys Plus Street Stock division are expected to compete Sunday against the best of the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. Troy Moyer leads the Angola Street Stock points so far this season. Bobby Schisler is in second, he is 33 points behind Moyer. Cam Schoeck is in third place, Terry King is in fourth place, while Ben Delong is in fifth place.
Pit gates open on Sunday at 10am, practice will begin at 12noon with qualifying at 2pm. The race program will begin at 3pm and will include heats races, possible last chance races and 50 lap features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. Also racing in Sunday’s program will be the Angola Bill’s Towing Mini Stocks in heat races and a 50 lap feature.
