Salem, Indiana (May 6, 2014) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman
Powered by JEGS will have their third event of the 2014 season this Saturday at
Anderson Speedway. Saturday will be the second of five series events at the fast ¼ mile
facility, battling against the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late
Models.
The series opened their 2014 season at Anderson Speedway on March 29th, with 14
year old Chris Hacker getting the win. It was Hacker’s second win in that division after
also getting a win during the 2013 season and becoming the youngest driver ever to visit
victory lane with CRA. Trey Craig picked up the victory in the series second event of the
season at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 6th.
After two events in 2014, Jason Atkinson is the current series point’s leader after getting
a second place finish at Anderson and a third place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Atkinson has a five point leader over top series rookie in points Eric McGlothlen in
second, McGlothlen also has two top five finishes with a third at Anderson and a fourth at
Lucas Oil Raceway. Hacker is in third place, he is only two points behind McGlothlen.
Rookie Jack Dossey III is in fourth place, he is four points behind Hacker. Billy Van Meter
comes into this weekend’s event in fifth place, only one point behind Dossey after his
career best second place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Dossey is the current point’s leader with the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models. Kent Baledge is in second place, 37 points behind Dossey. Van Meter and John Watson are tied for third, seven points behind Baledge. Jeff Marcum is in fifth place. Danny Trent won the last McGunegill Engine Performance Late Model event on April 21st.
Pit gates open on Saturday at 3:30pm, practice will begin at 5pm with qualifying at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include a 75 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Also racing in Saturday night’s program are the Anderson Speedway NASH FM ThunderCars and the Front Wheel Drive Figure Eight cars.
