Hoosier 970* and CRA 970* Announcement
(Special from Hoosier Racing Tire)
March 31, 2014
Lakeville, Indiana (March 31, 2014) – Hoosier Racing Tire officials announced today their
requirements for the updated 970* and CRA 970 * tires for use on Late Model Sportsman
type cars.  Teams are required to use the 27.0 tire on the right side and 26.5's are not to
be used on the left side.  The recent update to the tires included specifically building the
26.5 for use on the left side and not on the right.

According to Hoosier's Irish Saunders, "To create a balance between the left sides and
right sides under racing conditions, we put more gauge in the left side tire to help it heat
up sooner...to be balanced with the right side tires that always build more heat and
sooner.  The 26.5 was not built to be used on the right side.  Additionally, tire selection
will be greater for all racers, based on our build guidelines."

Hoosier officials acknowledged that the late clarification on these guidelines might create some confusion for a few early season races, so use of the 26.5 on the right side would be acceptable in the cool conditions expected through the first couple weeks of April, but should not be used on the right side after that.
