Salem, Indiana (March 27, 2014) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman
Series Powered by JEGS will open their 2014 season this Saturday at Anderson
Speedway on Sunday afternoon, March 30th. The Anderson 75 will be the first of five
series events at the fast ¼ mile facility, battling against the Anderson Speedway Engine
Performance Late Models. Jason Atkinson, Jeff Marcum, Trey Craig and now 14-year-old
Chris Hacker all picked up one series victory a piece at Anderson in 2013.
Mark Lambert won the 2013 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Championship
after a tough season long battle with second place finisher KC Spillers. Atkinson was
third in series points and led the series with four wins. Rookie of the Year Chris Hacker
was fourth in points while Robert Amos Jr. rounded out the top five. Atkinson is now the
series all-time victory leader with 13, Keith Sterkowitz is second with 10 wins, Steve
Minich Jr. is third with six wins.
Sunday afternoon will also be the season opener for the Anderson Speedway McGunegill
Engine Performance Late Models. Ronnie Rose was their 2013 points Champion. Rob
Allman was second with Joe Woodring in third, Hacker was fourth and Marcum was fifth.
There is still an open practice on Friday, March 28th pits open at 3pm, open practice will go from 4pm until dark. Pit gates open on Sunday at 10:30a.m., practice will begin at 12:30p.m., with qualifying at 2:00p.m. The race program will begin at the special time of 3:00p.m., and will include a 75 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Powered by JEGS. Also racing in Saturday night’s program are the Anderson Speedway NASH ThunderCars with a 75 lap feature and Legends in a 25 lap feature.
