Salem, Indiana (October 9, 2014) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman
Powered by JEGS will decide their 2014 Season Championship points battle, while
several Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS drivers will decide
their final spots in points as each series will have their 2014 Season Championship
event Saturday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway, as part of the
huge 43rd Running of the Winchester 400 Weekend.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will have their
10th and final event of the season for the series, to date the series has had eight
different winners in the nine events held so far this season. Billy Van Meter is the
only driver to win two events in 2014, he won the series last event at Lucas Oil
Raceway on September 28th. Single event winners in 2014 include Chris Hacker,
Trey Craig, Danny Trent, Greg Van Alst, Jason Atkinson, Shawn Amor, and Quinnton
Bear.
Van Alst comes into Saturday’s Season Championship event as the series points
leader, he has a 21 point lead over top series rookie Jack Dossey III. Van Meter is in
third place, he is only seven points behind Dossey. Atkinson is in fourth place, he is
18 points behind Van Meter. Rookie J.P. Crabtree is in fifth place, he is 21 points
behind Atkinson.
The Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will compete in their 12th
and final event of the season for the series. Jason Atkinson tops the series with three
wins so far this season. Josh Poore and Jeff Lane have two wins a piece, Lane got
the series last win at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 28th. Single event winners include Brett Hudson, Bret Miles Jr., Dustin Burge and Tyler Marsh.
Atkinson has already clinched the 2014 Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Season Championship far he and car owner Danny Acrey. Atkinson was also the inaugural CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Points Champion this season. 2013 series Champion Dustin Burge is currently in second place in points, but after suffering a hard crash in the series event at Anderson Speedway on September 6th, Burge will not compete this Saturday, and missed the last event at Lucas Oil Raceway. Leading series rookie Jeff Johnson is third in series points, he is only 11 points behind Burge. Josh Lank is in fourth place, he is only eight points behind Johnson. Rookie James Kirby III is in fifth place, he is only nine points behind Lank. Second through fifth are only separated by 28 points, Saturday’s race will definitely affect the final points for second through fifth place.
Things begin for the Winchester 400 Weekend with an optional load in, hauler parking and pit pass purchases on Thursday, October 9th from 3 to 8pm. Pits open on Friday, October 10th at 10am with rotating practice for all divisions beginning at 1pm. Qualifying for the Vore’s Touring Compacts, the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks New Star events and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 100 lap event will start at 5:40pm. Racing action will begin at 7pm with 8 lap heat races for the Vores Touring Compacts. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be up next. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks 25 lap New Star features will follow. The Vores Touring Compacts 20 lap feature will cap off the nights racing action.
Pits open on Saturday, October 11th at 8am, rotating practice for all divisions will begin at 11am. Qualifying for the Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks will begin at 3:30pm. EDCO Welding Pole Qualifying for the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will begin at 5pm. The race program will begin at 6pm with Top Speed Modifieds Last Chance races. The 50 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Season Championship event will be up next, followed by the 25 lap Winchester 400 Last Chance race if needed. The Top Speed Modifieds 50 lap Run for the Gun will follow. The 50 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Season Championship event will cap off this huge night of racing. The Annual Winchester 400 Party in the Pavilion will start in immediately following the races.
On Sunday, October 12th the pits will open at 9am, there will be a short warm-up session for the ARCA/CRA Super Series cars at 11am. There will be an on track autograph session with all the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 drivers starting at 12:30. Opening ceremonies will begin at 1:30 pm with the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 taking the green flag at 2pm.
