Winamac, Indiana (September 25, 2014) – J.J. Haley has had an adventurous year
to say the least. The 15-year-old from Winamac, Indiana has participated in a wide
range of events in a wide range of touring series'. From the ARCA Racing Series
Presented by Menards to the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS to the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. He's also made two
starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and will look to add appearance #3 on
the biggest track he will have raced on in his brief career; the 'Monster Mile'.
The Drive Sober 150 is set for Friday, September 26th at the famed Dover
International Speedway (DE) in Dover, Delaware. Haley and his J.J. Haley Racing
Team will concentrate solely on the 150-mile race on the same track that the
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series will race on later in the
weekend. In two previous starts, finishes of 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH)
and 24th at Iowa Speedway (IA) are not up to par with what Haley expects of
himself. He hopes that Dover will be a sign of things to come from the Hoosier State
teenager.
"I couldn't be any more blessed to have the opportunity to race in the NASCAR K&N
Pro Series East once again this weekend at one of the tracks I have always wanted
to race at; the 'Monster Mile'." The excited Haley remarked as his team makes final
arrangements for the nearly 13-hour haul to the First State. "We have a few things to prove in the series. We've done well in the ARCA Series with Venturini Motorsports with similar cars, so hopefully this time we can really show how far we've come." He added.
In six starts for Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series, Haley scored one top five finish, an impressive third at Elko Speedway (MN) back on June 21st in the Akona 250 Presented by Federated Car Care. He also recorded four top 10 finishes and one Menards Pole Award, which also came at Elko. Back on May 18th at Toledo Speedway (OH), Haley became the youngest driver in ARCA Racing Series history to start a race and at Elko became the youngest ever Pole Award Winner. In both cases and in rewriting both records, he erased Kyle Benjamin's name from the lists.
In his last race, the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan was the site for the Michigan Cup 100 Presented by JEGS.com on September 20th. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance returned for their second and final appearance of the year as in the spring back on May 4th, Haley went to victory lane in the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGs.com.
This time around, Haley would have to overcome an early accident that sent him to the rear of the field to finish 10th after starting 12th "We didn't have the best showing at Springport with getting involved in an early wreck. Unfortunately that would end our chances at a sweep of the races there." Explained Haley after the race. "But we did still come home with a Top 10 which shows that this team never gives up." He ended.
Amongst the season accomplishments for Haley in addition to his ARCA exploits include his first ever win in a Late Model when he scored the victory in the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Opener at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) on May 4th. Despite missing several races in JEGS/CRA, Haley is still 12th in the points standings as in addition to his win, he also has five top five finishes and seven top 10 showings. Finally in four ARCA/CRA Super Series starts, he has one top 10, which was a ninth place effort at Flat Rock Speedway (MI) back on August 16th.
The remainder of the 2014 season calls for Haley to participate in the 43rd running of the Winchester 400 Weekend on October 10-12th at the legendary high-banks of Winchester Speedway (IN). Then, tentatively, make one more start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series with the West division at Phoenix International Raceway (AZ) on November 6th. Remaining plans also call for Haley to race in the Snowflake 100, which is part of the 47th annual Snowball Derby Weekend at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on December 6th.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Haley's black #99 J.J. Haley Racing Chevrolets as well as the rest of the fleet of J.J. Haley Racing entries with Crew Chief, Bobby Blount calling the shots on top of the pit box all season long, will sport sponsorship decals and support from Braun Ability as well as Braun Auto Group, Two Guys Mechanical, JMR Trucking, T.J. Racing Lubricants and M.P.H. Promotions.
