Brandon Hermiller Heading To Lucas Oil Raceway For CRA Fall Brawl 2014
H.S. Die/VISI-TST Ford Fusion Driver & Team Looking To Turn More Heads Out On The Road (Special from H.S. Die Motorsports)

Walker, Michigan (September 24, 2014) – Brandon Hermiller and his Josh Slade-led H.S. Die/VISI-TST Ford Fusion Team are eager to get to Lucas Oil Raceway for this weekend’s McGunegill Engine Performance CRA Fall Brawl 2014.  The two-day schedule is highlighted by Sunday’s EDCO Welding 100 Presented by Quartermaster feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series.

“This is a race weekend that we’ve been looking forward to for a long time,” said the hard-charging 21-year-old Michigan racer.  “It’s an opportunity to show how much progress our team has made this season.  We’ll be racing against some of the best short-track teams in the nation and we’re hoping to be able to continue the momentum we’ve been building this year.

“We chose to concentrate on running all the Super Late Model races at Berlin this season and really haven’t traveled as much as we have in the last few years,” said Hermiller, who mixes his time behind the wheel of his red No. 6 Ford with classes at Grand Rapids Community College where he is pursuing a degree in manufacturing engineering technology.  “We got stronger and stronger as the Berlin season concluded.  Now it’s time to hit the road again and show what we’ve learned.”

Hermiller closed out the 2014 Berlin Raceway schedule posting an impressive record of three top-five finishes and six top-10’s in the seven regular season races on his home track.  He ended the season with a 7.4 average finish and was fifth in the final point standings.  Hermiller led the first laps of his Super Late Model career and won a heat race.  He thinks that level of success can be achieved this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway.

“The biggest positive we’re taking into Indy is our ability to work so well together as a team,” said Hermiller.  “I think the communication level we have is better than it’s ever been. We’ll have a total of 75 minutes of practice there on Saturday and I’m confident we can make the most of it.

“The fact that we are coming in there focusing on just the Super Series race will pay dividends I feel.  We’ve been there before and ran both (ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour) races.  It was fun from a driver’s standpoint, but it stretched us really thin from the personnel side.  We learned a lot from that experience.

“I am quick to say that the track is one of my favorites,” Hermiller said.  “Like I’ve said many times before, Lucas Oil Raceway and Winchester Speedway are my favorites when we’re out on the road racing.  It’s a track that I really liked from the first time we raced at the place.  I think it says just how much I really do like that track when I can think back about getting crashed out the very first time there and still have such a fond memory of racing on the track.

“We just can’t wait to get back there and get after it again,” added Hermiller, whose seventh-place finish in the July 2013 race rates as his best finish to date in three ARCA/CRA Super Series battles at LOR.  “I just love how big the track is.  It has the huge long straightaways and the turns are big and wide.  There’s so much room to race for a short track.  I’ve seen drivers make the low line work.  I’ve seen guys succeed running up against the wall all around the place.  It’s so different from most of the tracks we race on and I love it.  I can’t wait to get back there on Saturday.”

This weekend’s schedule at Lucas Oil Raceway opens on Saturday with a 10:45 a.m. drivers’ meeting for all CRA divisions.  The ARCA/CRA Super Series teams have practice sessions set from 11:30 a.m. till 12:15 p.m. and from 2:15 p.m. till 2:45 p.m.  Saturday’s EDCO Welding qualifying session at 4:30 p.m. will determine positions 1-20 in the starting field for Sunday’s 100-lap feature.  Positions 21-22 will come from the current ARCA/CRA owners’ points.  Positions 23-24 will come from Sunday’s last-chance race and two additional starting spots are held as promoters’ options.  The fast qualifier will draw for an inversion of five to 10 cars.

Sunday’s schedule begins with an 11:00 a.m. drivers’ meeting for all the CRA divisions.  Each division will get a warm-up session beginning at 11:45 a.m.  Racing will begin at 1:00 p.m. and includes a 40-lap feature for the CRA Late Model Sportsman division, a 30-lap feature for the Vores Compact Touring Series and a 40-lap feature for the CRA Street Stocks.  A 100-lap feature for the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour will serve as the prelude to the $3,000-to-win 100-lap ARCA/CRA Super Series battle.

A weekend pass for all the action is available for $70 and one-day passes can be purchased for $35.  For additional information, please call the Lucas Oil Raceway front office at (317) 291-4090.
