Defending ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, Travis Braden Two Races Away From Repeating  

Current Points Leader prepared for final two races to complete defense of his title (Special from Travis Braden Motorsports)

Wheeling, West Virginia (September 24, 2014) – Defending ARCA/CRA Super Series

Powered by JEGS Champion and current points leader Travis Braden is looking to

become only the second driver in the series' 18-year history to score back to back

titles. If the Wheeling, West Virginia stand out can hold on to the lead after the final

two races of the season, he would join three-time titlist, Johnny VanDoorn who

accomplished the feat in 2009 and again in 2010 (He would also add a third title in

2012).

Those two races left are at tracks where the 20-year-old has already been to victory

lane at are Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) and legendary high-banks of Winchester

Speedway (IN). Up first is LOR who will host the McGunegill Engine Performance

CRA Fall Brawl 2014 Presented by EDCO Welding at the 0.686 mile semi-banked

paved oval located west of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. The EDCO Welding

100 Presented by Quartermaster for the ARCA/CRA Super Series will headline the

entire weekend in the Circle City and Braden comes into the event as the defending

race winner.

"All of our focus is for LOR where we will finally debut our new car that we had

originally hoped to debut a few races back at Winchester over the Labor Day

Weekend." Stated Braden. "We were able to go test the car once at Columbus

Motor Speedway with far better results than we even planned for. We went to the track with a goal to simply shake the car down and find any bugs and instead I found myself saying at the end of the test that this new car felt better than our other car did when we WON there earlier in the summer." He added.

"I'm very excited about the possibilities for this weekend at LOR.  My only worry would be if we somehow missed any of the bugs that can sometimes pop up with a new car," The West Virginia University Engineering Sophomore continued. "But I honestly think (Crew Chief) Gary (St. Amant) and the guys did such a great job with this car that it should be no problem.  What a great accomplishment it would be if we could win the Fall Brawl for the second consecutive year, in a debut race for a new chassis.  That will be the goal for Sunday." Braden added.

In the last ARCA/CRA Super Series race, the tricky 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval of Kil-Kare Speedway (OH), located southeast of Dayton in Xenia, Ohio hosted the Buckminn's D&D Harley-Davidson / Oakley Blacktop 125 on a special Sunday afternoon, September 14th, Braden scored his ninth consecutive top five finish with a runner-up showing behind winner, Brandon Oakley. With second place in points, Ross Kenseth finishing in fourth, Braden picked up some valuable points in his quest to repeat as champion.

"Kil-Kare was almost as good of a day as we could have hoped. We had great speed all day, qualified third, and ran up front. In the beginning of the race I felt like I was being quite a bit more conservative than everyone else but still managed to get to second without pushing too hard which I was very pleased about." He explained. "The car felt perfect and I was able to ride with a lot of ease, until one of the restarts in about the middle of the race, when our car took a huge swing to the tight handling side."

As the race wore on, Braden was able to maintain his runner-up spot. "There was still a lot of speed, but I was struggling mightily to get the car to turn like I needed. Nonetheless, I gave it a few tries at the lead but could never really do more than get to Brandon's bumper. It was one of those situations where the two of us were pretty much the same speed but neither would probably be able to pass the other, which meant it was a matter of who got to the lead first, which wasn't me.  I thought at one point that lapped traffic might play in my favor if someone slipped up, and it came close,"

"But not close enough." Braden added. "I was forced to follow through on the outside of the slow cars and coast to the finish in second.  Continuing our streak of top five finishes, we accepted our good day at the track with no damage and we'll keep moving forward. We've got two races left and as long as we at least stay ahead of Ross, we'll be in good shape." He ended.

Going into the Kil-Kare event, Braden's lead over Kenseth climbed from 22 markers to 33 (1123-1090). Braden has visited victory lane twice with those triumphs coming at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) on August 2nd and again at Flat Rock Speedway (MI) on August 16th. Those wins go with his nine consecutive top fives as those consecutive top fives also account for his nine top 10 finishes.
