Hemric, VanDoorn, Campbell, Hoar, Mingus and Nasse Top List of First Winchester 400 Entries
Event will Pay $15,000 to Win Plus Bonuses

Salem, Indiana (September 12, 2014) – The list of early entries to date for the upcoming
43rd Running of the Winchester 400 on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway
on October 12th contains some very impressive names as this event continues to be one
of the premier template late model events in the country, sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA
Super Series Powered by JEGS. Some of the past winners since CRA began sanctioning
the event include names like Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, David Stremme, Ross Kenseth,
Erik Jones, Scott Hantz, Brian Ross, Ryan Lawler, Boris Jurkovic and Bobby Parsley.
North Carolina hot shoe Daniel Hemric and three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion
Johnny VanDoorn have both entered. The Winchester 400 is the final leg in the JEGS/
CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown. The other events included the Stoops
Freightliner Redbud 300 on June 14th at Anderson Speedway which was won by Hemric
and the Berlin 251 on July 19th at Berlin Raceway that was won by VanDoorn. Since
there are already two winners, no one will be able to claim the $100,000 bonus for winning
all three events, but both Hemric and VanDoorn have a chance to claim the $10,000
bonus for winning two of the three events if either can win the Winchester 400. VanDoorn
is the series all-time winner at Winchester with five wins, Hemric is seeking his first
Winchester win after a fifth place finish last year.
Two time 2014 ARCA CRA Super Series winner Brian Campbell has also entered,
Campbell is tied for fifth in all-time series wins with 14, but is still seeking his first win at Winchester. The son of famous Michigan racer Fred Campbell lead the series points for most of the early part of the 2014 season until a streak of bad luck forced him to set out several races to regroup.
Vermont veteran racer Brian Hoar is entered to make his CRA debut at the Winchester 400. Hoar won his 40th ACT Late Model feature on June 14th, but has decided to venture out and do some Super Late Model racing, hitting some of the bigger events around the country this season. Hoar has already competed in the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in August and also plans to race in this year’s Snowball Derby.
Former series regular Mason Mingus has also entered. The Tennessee native is competing full-time with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2014, where he is 11th in season points. Mingus had a strong third place finish in last year’s Winchester 400, he hopes to pick up his first series victory in the Winchester 400.
Florida native Stephen Nasse has entered for his fourth Winchester 400. Nasse looks to shake off the bad luck he has had the past three Winchester 400’s including a faulty ignition last year that forced him to park his car after only 63 laps. Accidents ended his day early in both the 2012 and 2011 events.
Entries have also been received from several CRA regulars including Rick Turner, who recently became the series all-time starts leader and has a series win at Winchester Speedway. Also entered is Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader Wes Griffith Jr., who finished ninth in his backup car on September 1st at Winchester, also Matt Hall who got a fourth place finish on September 1st, and Tom Woodin who finished 11th on September 1st., all three of those drivers will be competing in their first Winchester 400.
The Winchester 400 is 400 laps counting cautions with live pit stops. It is a 12 tire maximum race. The event will pay $15,000 to win plus bonuses, which includes $10,000 in lap leader money, which is $25 per lap lead, plus bonuses of $1500, $1000 and $500 to the top three finishing traveling non-regular CRA teams.
Things begin for the Winchester 400 Weekend with an optional load in, hauler parking and pit pass purchases on Thursday, October 9th from 3 to 8pm. Pits open on Friday, October 10th at 10am with rotating practice for all divisions beginning at 1pm. Qualifying for the Vore’s Touring Compacts, the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks New Star events and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 100 lap event will start at 5:40pm. Racing action will begin at 7pm with 8 lap heat races for the Vores Touring Compacts. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be up next. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks 25 lap New Star features will follow. The Vores Touring Compacts 20 lap feature will cap off the nights racing action.
Pits open on Saturday, October 11th at 8am, rotating practice for all divisions will begin at 11am. Qualifying for the Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks will begin at 3:30pm. EDCO Welding Pole Qualifying for the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will begin at 5pm. The race program will begin at 6pm with Top Speed Modifieds Last Chance races. The 50 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Season Championship event will be up next, followed by the 25 lap Winchester 400 Last Chance race if needed. The Top Speed Modifieds 50 lap Run for the Gun will follow. The 50 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Season Championship event will cap off this huge night of racing. The Annual Winchester 400 Party in the Pavilion will start in immediately following the races.
On Sunday, October 12th the pits will open at 9am, there will be a short warm-up session for the ARCA/CRA Super Series cars at 11am. There will be an on track autograph session with all the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 drivers starting at 12:30. Opening ceremonies will begin at 1:30 pm with the 43rd Annual Winchester 400 taking the green flag at 2pm.
