Fremont, Ohio (September 11, 2014) – Ali Kern is making the most of the rest of the 2014
racing season in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. After a rough start to
her sophomore campaign, the 2013 Rookie of the Year and overall runner-up has
responded with a second place finish at Flat Rock Speedway (MI) on August 16th and a
hard fought eighth place effort at Winchester Speedway (IN) on Labor Day Monday,
September 1st during the tracks prestigious World Stock Car Festival.
"What a race. All I know is I have even more respect for my crew chief, Scott Neal, then I
did before. He's like the driver/crew whisperer." Laughed the Fremont, Ohio driver upon
reflecting on her last race with Scott Neal Racing. "He has this unique ability to just keep
everyone calm and focused. We had such a great car at Winchester. We were really
fast all weekend. Then the race started and then the Gleason locked up. The car was so
tight I could barely keep it off the wall." She explained.
"We made about four pit stops and tried everything we could to help loosen the car up.
We took cross out, we let air out of the left rear and we increased the rear stagger just so
I could try and finish the race." The 21-year-old continued. "We ended up P8 and that's
because Scott, my crew and I refused to quit. I didn't come to Winchester Speedway to
sit in the pits. The communication and dedication of our entire team is outstanding."
Next on the schedule will be the Buckminn's D&D Harley-Davidson / Oakley Blacktop 125 at Kil-Kare Speedway (OH) on a special Sunday afternoon, September 14th. In the only other ARCA/CRA Super Series race at the tricky 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval one year ago, Kern came away with a solid third place showing. "It's such a fun, tricky little track but I really like it. I've only raced there once before, last year. The people at Kil-Kare treated us so well last year and they have such great fans. We're really looking forward to going back. Thank you to Hal Hawk & Crown Battery for their continued support and to everyone who keeps cheering us on." She ended.
Going into the Kil-Kare race, Kern remains sixth in the points standings, but is now only 13 markers outside of the coveted top five behind Paul Shafer Jr. She has one top five, her second place effort at Flat Rock to go with four top 10 finishes. For the rest of the 2014 racing season, Kern will be behind the wheel of her black #28 Ali Kern Motorsports / Scott Neal Racing / Ford Fusions. Her entries will carry sponsorship decals and support throughout the rest of the year from Crown Battery as well as Port City Racecars, Eibach Springs, Prince Building Systems, Hybrid Haven, VanDoorn Racing Development and M.P.H. Promotions.
