Yorktown, Indiana (August 29, 2014) – As Rick Turner Racing prepares for a 'home game'
of sorts for the patriarch of the team, Rick Turner, the development driver within, 17-year-
old Cole Rouse will get to experience Winchester Speedway (IN) for the first time over the
Labor Day Holiday Weekend. The prestigious World Stock Car Festival is set for Sunday-
Monday, August 31-September 1st at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved
oval. For Turner, Winchester is also the site of his last ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered
by JEGS victory.
Flashback to September 1, 2008 and that is when the 56-year-old took the checkered flag
first for his third career ARCA/CRA Super Series win. While his other two triumphs both
came at his 'other' home track, near-by Anderson Speedway (IN), the famed high-banks in
Eastern Indiana hold a special place in the hearts of the entire Rick Turner Racing Team.
For one, as Turner says simply; 'It's Winchester."
"Going to my favorite track. We have had a lot of success there although the last time
there we did not do very well. "Laughed the Yorktown, Indiana veteran."So we are looking
to get it right and get back to where we were when we won the pole for the 2012
Winchester 400." Winchester is a big deal to us and has been for a long time. Plus the
World Stock Car Festival is a great tune-up for the 400. We really feel like both my car
and Cole's car will be real fast all weekend long. We can't wait to get there." He added.
In Turner's last race, the 7-Up 125 at Flat Rock Speedway (MI) back on August 16th,
Turner officially set the all-time ARCA/CRA Super Series career start record with his
224th green flag at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile semi-banked paved oval in Southeast
Michigan. A special nuance to the record breaking moment was the fact that it was set at
one of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) home tracks with the ARCA name
being added to the CRA Super Series prior to the start of the 2013 racing season.
In the race, Turner came away with an eighth place finish to move up into the top five in
the season long points chase. "We had a decent car and it was a lot of fun racing with
Ross (Kenseth), J.J. (Haley) and Matt (Hall)." The Hoosier State veteran continued. "We
didn't get the finish we wanted, but it was a solid top 10 and we're now fifth in points with
four races to go. We'll keep working at it and getting better and hopefully some strong
finishes to close out the year start at Winchester." He ended.
As for the RTR Development Driver within the teams stables, Cole Rouse is making his
first ever appearance at Winchester coming off of an 11th place showing at Auto City
Speedway (MI) back on August 9th. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance was there for the Auto City 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The finish did move the Fort Smith, Arkansas teenager up to ninth overall in points as well as up to third in the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title chase. "I'm very excited about Winchester, I think the team will give me a good car and Rick (Turner) will be great to ask questions about the track. I hope we can get a win out of this weekend as a result." He said.
For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, Turner's familiar black & red #26 will have sponsor decals and support from T.J.
