Wheeling, West Virginia (July 30, 2014) – After four straight top five finishes in the ARCA/
CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, defending series champion, Travis Braden is back
in the title picture. Despite a slow start in the first three races of the 2014 racing season,
the Wheeling, West Virginia driver has roared back into title contention. Going into the
next race on the schedule, Braden is just two points out of the points lead behind current
point's leader, Ross Kenseth and five points ahead of two-time winner in 2014, Brian
Campbell.
A rain out on June 28th has paved the way for the Inaugural JEGS Bud St. Amant
Memorial 174 Presented by CoughlinCars.com on Saturday, August 2nd. The 1/3 (0.333)
mile semi-banked, circular shaped paved oval of Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus,
Ohio serves as hosts as Braden has plenty of fond memories of the Buckeye State capital
speed plant. He was the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Weekly Late Model
Track Champion and Rookie of the Year and is looking forward to returning to the track
closest to home.
"I'm really excited for this weekend's race at my home track, as well as the rest of the
season. This weekend is going to be a one-of-a-kind event." Stated the 20-year-old upon
returning to Columbus. "Besides the fact that it is my home track and over 60 of my
closest friends and family are planning to come watch, it is also a special event for my
crew chief, Gary St Amant, as the race is devoted to the memory of his father, I wasn't
fortunate enough to ever meet Bud, but I have heard many great stories from Gary and
others." He added.
As for the remainder of the 2014 racing season, the early season gremlins have subsided
for the Travis Braden Motorsports Team based off the last four finishes of third (Berlin-May
31st), 2nd (Anderson-June 14th), 5th (Berlin-July 19th) and 5th (LOR-July 25th). "We've
had a phenomenal year as far as performance level even with the slow start, but just
haven't wound up in victory lane yet. Something is telling me that maybe this race is when
it is meant to happen. I can't think of anything that would be more fitting." He added.
After seven points races into his title defense, Kenseth, Braden and Campbell have pulled
away from the rest of the field in the chase for the 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series
championship. Braden has now scored four top five finishes with a season high of a
second coming in the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway (IN) on June 14th. Those
showings also account for his four top 10s as well.
"Moving forward, there are many of my better tracks coming up in the final half of the
season. Flat Rock, Winchester (twice), Kil-Kare and LOR. All places I love to race at and
have had a lot of success." Braden continued. "Our only focus is to win. We are not
racing for a championship at this point, just want to win and win BIG. I felt like last year
we had a top three car in the Winchester 400 and this year so far I have been trying to put
all focus towards preparing for that race. There's no better way to end a season than a
Winchester 400 win."He ended.
For the rest of the 2014 season, Braden’s popular #01 West Virginia University / Chevrolet
will also carry additional sponsorship support and decals from; Braden’s A-1 Towing &
Collision as well as RememberTheMiners.org, Matheson Valley Gases, Stoney Hollow Tire, Elms Grove Eagles #1891, A.D. Baker Construction, M.P.H. Promotions, and Travis Braden Motorsports.
