Fifth Place Showing for Chad Finley In Second NASCAR K&N East Start; Battle At Berlin 251 Is Next
Qualified Third Fastest at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Special from Chad Finley Racing)

DeWitt, Michigan (July 17, 2014) – Chad Finley knew that his second NASCAR K&N Pro
Series East start in the Granite State 100 would be a big step towards the ultimate goal
for the 22-year-old. The legendary New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New
Hampshire was a track that Finley had never seen before prior to arriving for the July 11th
event, the second of up to four scheduled races within the developmental series within
NASCAR.
It didn’t seem to matter though to Finley in his #29 Auto Value Parts Store & Certified
Service Centers /Airlift Company Ford who qualified an impressive third quick in Pole
Qualifying out of the 37 teams on the property which means he would start the Granite
State 100 from the inside of the second row.
“Overall I am pleased with our weekend in Loudon. We had to overcome some adversity
this weekend. We were only able to get about 45 minutes of the scheduled two hours of
practice. We had an engine issue show up and it really dampened our effort in terms of
time to work on our race setup” Finley stated. “I have to thank all of my team for getting
the issue resolved. I wish we could have got more practice to work on the car and get
more speed out of the car. We were really happy to qualify third and I think that
showcased the speed we had. Especially would like to thank Marc Browning for coming
out for the week to help crew chief the car. We worked well together. We beat up Shane’s [Whitbeck] cell phone as well” He added.
Finley would take the lead on lap three and lead the following seven laps. He settled and rode in the top five for the first half of the race. “Early on in the race we were just biding our time saving tires and keeping the leader in sight.” Finley continued. “Unfortunately about lap 10 the same handling issue we had fought all weekend started to come back and the car just got way to tight. We worked on it at the break but being in dirty air it was really hard to pass from about third on back.”
He then added; “ We are such a small team on a low budget and to run 5th in only our second KNPSE start means a lot to us and gives us a lot of momentum to go on to Iowa, a place where I have been before and know what to expect. We’re able to take the car home in one piece and now have a baseline to go off of for Iowa. Shane Whitbeck and Marc Browning already have a plan on what we need to do to be better, so that is encouraging. Looking forward to getting back to Iowa and hopefully we can improve from a 5th place effort and be even stronger.” The 22-year-old ended.
Now the team is getting ready for next race on the CFR schedule; the 2nd Annual Battle at Berlin 251 Presented by Primera Plastics on Friday-Saturday, July 18-19th at Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids and only an hour away from the CFR race shop in Marne, Michigan.
