Fremont, Ohio (June 26, 2014) – The 2014 season continues for 2013 ARCA/CRA Super
Series Rookie of the Year, Ali Kern. After a trying start for her and her Ali Kern
Motorsports / Lorz Motorsports Team look to be heading in the right direction after the last \
race. The Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 was at Anderson Speedway (IN) on June 14th
and the Buckeye State driver came away with a hard fought 10th place finish. Her first top
10 of her sophomore season and it came in the first jewel within the $100,000 JEGS Triple
Crown Series.
"What a race. We finished P10 because we refused to give up." The 21-year-old stated.
"It was just unbelievable. Over the past few weeks we have changed the distributor three
times, the ignition box twice and rewired everything twice and we still suffered the same
electrical problems. I told myself I was going to finish this race regardless of what
roadblocks were thrown our way. So we spent half the race running on the lead lap with
the car really rolling and half the race running on the bottom of the track at half power due
to the electrical problems again." She added.
After qualifying 15th within the 24-car field, Kern, who was also the 2013 ARCA/CRA
Super Series Overall Runner-Up, would start the prestigious Redbud 300 from the inside
of the eighth row. "I can't thank my crew enough for giving it everything they had all
weekend. It's just really, really sad that this same issue has pretty much ruined our season." She remarked.
The season does continue for Kern and crew with a race in her home state of Ohio, the JEGS 125 Presented by CoughlinCars.com is set for Saturday, June 28th at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio. The 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked, circular shaped paved oval is located just two hours south of her home in Fremont, Ohio. So Kern is ready and hoping that some home state cooking will snap her and the team out of the dreaded 'sophomore slump.'
"We're ready for Columbus and we'll most likely run the crate car there. That car has been good to me and I'm counting on her to come through for me this weekend." She continued. "I want to personally thank Hal Hawk at Crown Battery for really stepping up and supporting myself and Ali Kern Motorsports during this trying season. It really means a lot to everyone on this team." Kern ended.
Despite the trying season for Kern, she is still within the top 10 in the season long points chase as she sits ninth in standings. She's only 20 markers behind eighth place and still only 28 points outside of the coveted top five in a very tight battle from fourth down to Kern's ninth spot. .
For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, Kern will climb behind the wheel of a pair of black #28 Ali Kern Motorsports / Ford Fusions maintained by Lorz Motorsports. Her machines will carry sponsorship decals and support throughout the year from Crown Battery as well as Port City Racecars, Eibach Springs, K&N Filters, Prince Building Systems, Hybrid Haven, VanDoorn Racing Development and M.P.H.
