Bremen, Kentucky (June 24, 2014) – It's been planned since the start of the 2014 racing
season that 16-year-old Hunter Baize would make his debut with the ARCA/CRA Super
Series Powered by JEGS at some point during the year. That time has come for the
Bremen, Kentucky driver as Baize will go up against the cars and stars of the premier tour
within Champion Racing Association (CRA) this Saturday, June 28th at Columbus Motor
Speedway in Columbus, Ohio, the site of his first ever win in a Late Model.
The JEGS 125 Presented by CoughlinCars.com at the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked,
circular shaped paved oval in the capital city of the Buckeye State will be Baize's first test
against Super Late Models competition. Back on May 24th, Baize went to victory lane in
the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at the Columbus, Ohio speed plant. He's hoping his
experience and the momentum from his win in Central Ohio will carry over to his Super
Late Model debut with the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
"We're very excited about making our ARCA/CRA Super Series debut this coming
weekend at Columbus Motor Speedway, for the JEGS 125." The excited driver stated as
he and his VanDoorn Racing Development Team prepare for the 125-lap main in the
Buckeye State. "This is a great opportunity to run CRA's top tier division and I look
forward to the challenge." He added.
In Baize's last race, the closest track resembling a 'home game' for the Blue Grass State teenager at Salem Speedway (IN). The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour was in the 'Hoosier Hills' for the running of the John Jones Auto Group 100 Presented by Mountaineer Firewood & JEGS.com. After qualifying second quick out of the 23-car field, a freak incident knocked Baize's #13 Mountaineer Firewood / Ford out of the event after only 19 laps.
"Everywhere we've went with this season the guys at VRD have given us a great car. They did so once again at Salem." Baize continued. "The first 15 laps I was just riding. As notorious as Salem is for tearing equipment up, survival is the most important thing for the first 80 laps or so. Unfortunately, during a restart on lap 19 we hit what we believe to be a piece of the track, breaking our lower control arm, and ending our night. We really wanted a good points night and a good showing for all of our family and friends, who made a two and a half hour drive to watch us, but obviously there was nothing we could do." He ended.
Four points races into the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour season, Baize actually moved up to fifth in the points from sixth despite his early exit at Salem. Baize's win at Columbus also accounts for his lone top five finish in the series. He's only a point out of fourth place in the standings.
In addition to running for the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship, Baize will also make select appearances in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. His Driver Coach and Spotter, Johnny VanDoorn will also make a few appearances in the ARCA/CRA Super Series later in the year, primarily in the series' prestigious $100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series.
For the rest of the 2014 racing season all of Baize's red and black #13 VanDoorn Racing Development / Ford Fusions will carry sponsorship decals and support throughout the year from Mountaineer Firewood as well as Kawasaki, Threaded Fasteners, Wood-Mizer Portable Saw Mills, B&K Wood Products, Sterling Lumber Company, McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H.
