Brandon Watson Undeterred After Redbud 300 Disappointment

Stayner, Ontario (June 19, 2014) – After having his afternoon come to an early end at
June 14th’ Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway, Brandon Watson is not willing to dwell on
the negative. Instead, Watson has already begun preparations for his return to action with
the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
“What happened at Anderson is one of those deals in which there’s really no point in
getting angry”, explained Watson when reached for comment. “It’s just wasted energy.
Obviously bowing out with a DNF is one of the worst feelings at a racetrack, and there’s
definitely a level of frustration being caught up in someone else’s mess, but what can you
do?”
The third-generation star opened the 300-lap event with an ill-handling race car, but made
changes throughout the day to improve the car’s response.
“We were crazy loose at the start of the day”, said Watson, “but the guys did an
awesome job tightening us up, and we had a real good car heading into the second half
of the race”
Unfortunately for Watson, his progress was abruptly halted when his Shear Metal
Products/Royal Distributing No. 9 was caught in a lap-183 accident, ending in a 17th place finish.
“Anderson is one of the more challenging tracks we go to, because things happen so quickly there”, opined Watson. “We were headed down the back straightaway, when two cars at the front of the field got together. The rest of the pack had nowhere to go, and just stacked up. My spotter barely had time to key the mic before we were in it”
Despite the damage to the family-run team’s lone chassis, Watson reports that repairs are already underway to be ready for Round 6 of the ARCA/CRA Super Series at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio on June 28th.
“The rides home are always a lot quieter, and they feel a lot longer, when you don’t get the result you were looking for”, said Watson. “But, at no point, did we ever consider not fixing this car and getting ready for Columbus. There’s no quit in this team. I can’t thank my Dad enough for all that he’s done, and continues to do to get us ready for these races. The wreck at Anderson cleaned off virtually the whole right front suspension, but we’re in the process of putting the car back together now. We’ll be at Columbus, ready to turn our luck around”
