Yorktown, Indiana (June 12, 2014) – If there's a time in the ARCA/CRA Super Series
Powered by JEGS schedule that veteran Rick Turner looks forward to the most, it's
Redbud 300 time. The prestigious race, which serves as the first round of the $100,000
JEGS Triple Crown Series is set for Friday-Saturday, June 13-14th at Turner's home track;
the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson,
Indiana. The famed facility is also the site of two of Turner's three career ARCA/CRA
Super Series victories.
"The guys have worked hard and I think we can be fast this weekend and contend for the
win." The 56-year-old matter of factly stated. "I like it when all the guys come up from the
south and run this race like T.J. (Reaid), Bubba (Pollard) and Daniel (Hemric). Plus with
Johnny (VanDoorn) coming back and all of the ARCA/CRA regulars too, it makes for great
competition. Really looking forward to it." The Yorktown, Indiana native added.
Going into the Redbud 300, Turner sits eighth in the season long points chase, just 16
points outside of the coveted top five in the chase for the championship. In four points
races, the Yorktown, Indiana veteran has one top 10, which is a seventh place finish at
Anderson back on April 26th. Turner will make his 219th career start in the ARCA/CRA
Super Series, good for second all-time as he will be only four starts behind the now retired
Kenny Tweedy (223) for the all-time lead. Turner is also amongst the all-time leaders in nearly every statistical category within the series' 18-year history.
In Turner's last race, the 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Berlin Raceway, which is located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan awaited the Turner Racing Team. The Berlin 125 Presented by AutoWorldFinancial.com was next on the schedule. "Berlin did not go as planned we struggled with the car all day Saturday just could not get it to go It's kind of what we have been fighting all year." He explained.
"After Berlin we took the car to Port City Racecars and Harley (Boeve) found a couple things wrong. The last couple of races have been tough on us. We know we can run better than what we have been." Turner continued. "So now with all the problems fixed we should be a lot better and we can improve on the seventh place finish at Anderson in April. I think we had a top five car the last time, even with all of the problems, plus it's a long race. We'll be good. He ended.
Turner's development driver within Turner Racing, 16-year-old Cole Rouse has been enjoying some down time in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance schedule as they await the next race, the John Jones Auto Group 100 Presented by Mountaineer Firewood & JEGS.com on Saturday, June 21st. The historic 0.555 mile high-banked paved oval of Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana is next for the Fort Smith, Arkansas teenager.
For the remainder of the 2014 racing season, Turner's black and red #26 will have sponsor decals from T.J. Racing Lubricants as well as McGunegill Engine Performance, G&G Oil of Indiana, AR Bodies, Schoenfeld Headers, Port City Racecars, Q.S. Components, A.J.'s High-Speed Graphics, Heartfelt Creations, M.P.H. Promotions and Rick Turner Racing.
