DeWitt, Michigan (June 10, 2014) – Competing in the biggest and high profile Super Late
Model races is nothing new for Chad Finley. He and the Chad Finley Racing Team know
what it takes to run up front in those shows and they proved as much in the last one; the
3rd annual ARCA Fest at the Milwaukee Mile, located west of Milwaukee in West Allis,
Wisconsin on Sunday, June 8th.
The ARCA Midwest Tour Presented by SCAG Power Equipment headlined the Howie
Lettow Memorial 150. After qualifying 10th quick amongst a 37-car field, a 12-car inversion
placed the DeWitt, Michigan driver on the inside of the second row for the main. After
battling with the leaders all race long and taking the lead on several occasions only to
have to fall back due to a caution flag right afterwards each time, the 22-year-old came
away from the Wisconsin State Fair Park with an impressive third place finish.
“First off I got to start by thanking my team. We had to make some pretty big changes
and do some time consuming things to get our car where it needed to be for the race."
Explained Finley. "We unloaded pretty good off the truck but struggled to find some
speed. Luckily we were able to hit on it there at the end of practice and have solid speed
in the race. The race itself was pretty fun. We had to race really hard all day long to keep our Auto Value / Air Lift Company / Chevrolet up front." He added.
"Clean air and track position was so important and once you got back beyond fifth it was just really hard to gain it back." Finley continued. "We had some good restarts where we beat the leaders through the gears coming to the green and we were able to take the lead. But a caution flag always flew when that occurred. Our car was best on cold tires. Wish we could of got a green white checkered there at the end and tried to of earned a Victory. Happy for everyone involved here at CFR. We keep running like this in the top three as we have all season and our day will come." He ended.
Finley will now take a little time off before the next race on the CFR schedule; the 2nd Annual Battle at Berlin 251 on Friday-Saturday, July 18-19th at Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids and only an hour and 15 minutes away from the CFR race shop in Marne, Michigan. The 251 is also the second race of the prestigious $100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS.
In the meantime, Finley will go back to the role of Crew Chief for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Rookie contender, 15-year-old Grant Quinlan. The next race for the Harrison, Michigan teenager is on Saturday, June 21st down at the historic 0.555 mile high-banked paved oval of Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana for the John Jones Auto Group 100 Presented by JEGS.com
As for the remainder of the 2014 racing season, driving wise, Finley will run in several high-profile Super Late Model races throughout the country with a focus on the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. He'll also run events within the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, ARCA Midwest Tour and the Southern Super Series.
