Avon, Indiana (April 8, 2014) – 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS
champion, Derrick Griffin will make his first stock car appearance of the 2014 season
this Saturday at the Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio. Griffin will drive the Downey
Racing, LLC #25 Chevrolet SS Super Late Model in the 7-Up 150 this Saturday.
Border Wars I - 7-Up 150 is the first combination race for the ARCA/CRA Super Series
powered by JEGS and the ARCA Midwest Tour during the 2014 season and will place
take at the ½ (0.500) mile, high banked Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio.
Griffin is coming off a win in the Top Speed ICAR Modified Tour event at Lucas Oil
Raceway on Sunday, April 6. Griffin’s last race in a full bodied stock car was a good one,
finishing 3rd at the 'Racing's Back!' Memphis 125 at Memphis International Raceway on
Saturday, October 26, 2013, after winning the Fast Qualifier Award for the event.
Griffin is no stranger to success in ARCA/CRA Super Series competition. In 2011, he won
both the Rookie of the Year award and the overall points championship, beating some of
short track racing’s biggest names such as Johnny VanDoorn & Scott Hantz.
Downey Racing, LLC was founded by Mark & Kathy Downey. Their son, Brent Downey, now runs the team. Brent, a successful racer himself, has shifted his focus to improving Downey Racing, LLC on and off the track, in a management role. Downey Racing, LLC will field a black #25 Chevrolet SS powered once again by McGunegill Engine Performance.
