Jenison, Michigan (April 1, 2014) – Now that the 2014 racing season is in full swing, or
about to be in the Midwestern United States, Ross Kenseth and the Boyne Machine
Racing Team are in full preparation mode for the first major Super Late Models event of the
new campaign at one of the most historical tracks on the Midwest; Toledo Speedway in
Toledo, Ohio.
Next on the 2014 schedule will be the 2014 season opener for the ARCA/CRA Super
Series Powered by JEGS as Border Wars I - 7-Up 150 is set for Saturday, April 12 at the
famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval located just south of the Michigan / Ohio
state line. This race is also the first of two combination races between the ARCA/CRA
Super Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour, where Kenseth won the 2010 Rookie of the
Year title.
For the race at Toledo, Kenseth's #77 will adorn the decals of the ARCA/CRA Super
Series where he has seven career wins in just 31 starts and at least one victory in each of
the past four seasons including his most recent ARCA/CRA triumph, at Lucas Oil
Raceway (IN) on July 26, 2013. In addition, and in 26 career ARCA Midwest Tour starts,
he has four wins with the most recent coming at Illiana Motor Speedway (IN) on June 18,
2011, ironically the site of the second ARCA/CRA / ARCA Midwest Tour combo race on
May 26th.
"I haven't been to Toledo since the spring of 2009 (Old ASA Late Model Series Northern Division) and that was a race I felt like we let slip away so I'm really looking forward to going back there and have a strong showing." Kenseth, originally from Little Chute, Wisconsin, but now calls Jenison, Michigan home stated. "It's fun racing with the CRA drivers and the Midwest Tour drivers together. The driving styles between the two series are quite a bit different. So it's going to be really interesting seeing how that race plays out, I just hope to be a contender when it comes down to it." He added.
In his last race, the 38th running of the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway, located just 45 minutes north of the Alabama / Florida state line in Opp, Alabama. Mother Nature forced Series and Track Officials to postpone the race a week from the originally scheduled race day of March 16th to March 22nd. Prior to the rain out, Kenseth qualified sixth quick out of 28 teams.
After starting from the third row and working his way up to the second spot on lap 100, he set his sights on
race leader, Bubba Pollard. After an oil spill resulting in a caution flag on lap 116, this set up a restart and as the green flag came back out, Pollard and Kenseth collided on the slippery track and spun causing significant damage to both machines as well as John Hunter Nemechek's car, knocking all three out of the race
"Well my rattler luck doesn't seem to be biased for any team I race for. We put a lot of work into it and made the car really good for the race and it showed. I feel like we had one of the two fastest cars there and it's always extremely disappointing to come home empty handed when you get a car like that." He explained. "The track was still pretty dirty from all the oil dry that was still on the track." Kenseth ended.
In addition to the ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour races on the schedule, Kenseth will also run in some events with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance as well as in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East later in the year. Also on some off weekends, he will race close to the Boyne Machine Racing shop at Berlin Raceway (MI) in the tracks Boyne Machine Company Super Late Models Series for Template Super Late Models.
For the rest of the 2014 campaign, Kenseth's fleet of #77 Boyne Machine Racing / Enterprise Iron & Metal / Ford Fusions are continually and actively seeking sponsorship to go along with the decals already on the car from Boyne Machine Company as well as Enterprise Iron & Metal to join up with Doc360, McGunegill Engine Performance, Draco Springs, Penske Racing Shocks, AP Racing Brakes, Quartermaster, Fast Signs of Appleton, Wisconsin and M.P.H. Promotions.
