DeWitt, Michigan (April 14, 2014) – Chad Finley knew there would be a stout field of cars
in first of two combination races pitting the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS
head to head with the teams from the ARCA Midwest Tour Presented by SCAG Power
Equipment. The 2014 season openers for both tours would be at the famed 1/2 (0.500)
mile high-banked paved oval of Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio as Border Wars I - 7-Up
150 would be the first major test for the Chad Finley Racing Team closer to home in the
Midwestern United States.
After timing in within the top 10 throughout the weekend in Practice, Finley would then go
on and win the EDCO Welding/Miller Electric Welders Fast Qualifier Award, worth $100
cash and a new Miller Welder valued at over $1,200 over the stellar 42-car field, the 22-
year-old then drew an eight for an inversion, which placed his #42 AutoParts2020.com /
AirLiftCompany.com / Chevrolet on the outside of the fourth row for the 150-lap main.
"Toledo was a good step for us as a team. Going into the weekend we were pretty
confident that the car would have some speed based on some things we had done In the
shop and learned since The Rattler." The DeWitt, Michigan driver explained. "I'm happy
that those things paid off as Toledo has been a place where we've struggled at times. It felt good to set fast time out of such a strong field of cars. But at the end of the day wins are far more crucial." He added.
During the race, Finley bided his time from the eighth starting spot and steadily progressed through the pack up into the top five by the halfway break. When the second half of the 150-lapper began, Finley started his charge and immediately climbed up into the third position. That's where the DeWitt, Michigan driver would stay for most of the remainder of the race. Despite briefly falling back to fourth, Finley fought his way back to the podium and that's where he stayed garnering a third place showing.
"The race itself was much like I had expected the first half with a lot of drivers riding around doing tire management." Finley continued. "When we came into the break we made a good adjustment that took us from a fifth place car to a top three car. So I'm proud of my team for that just wish we would have went a little further to maybe have a shot at (Brian) Campbell but those guys were so strong all weekend and always are at Toledo. I can say that I am excited for 2014 and can't wait to get back to the track and contend for more wins." He ended.
The plans are for the remainder of the 2014 racing season for Finley to make select appearances in several high-profile Super Late Model races throughout the country with a primary focus on the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS while also racing in select events within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, ARCA Midwest Tour and the Southern Super Series. On some off weekends, Finley will also compete in an Outlaw Bodied Pro Late Model closer to home at Owosso Speedway (MI).
For the rest of the 2014 racing season, all of Finley's black & red #42 Port City Racecars Chevrolets will carry sponsorship decals throughout the season from Auto Value Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers as well as AutoParts2020.com, The Air Lift Company, XLT Engineering, NorthsideTowing.net, McGunegill Engine Performance, Five Star Racecar Bodies, Bassett Racing Wheels, Affordable Tire & Service, Bosch Spark Plugs, Hyperco Suspension, Maurer’s Textiles, Superior Racing Images and M.P.H.
