Salem, Indiana (January 22, 2014) – The Zaxby’s SpeedFest 2014 will take place at
beautiful Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia, this coming weekend. The
event will be chalked full of entertainment and some of the best racers in the country
competing in 325 laps of late model racing action. The Zaxby’s SpeedFest 2014 will
consist of a 200 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model special non-points event
and a 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Pro Late
Model special non-points event. The Speedfest 200 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series will
have a break at lap 100 and will count yellow flag laps up to lap 175. The Chevrolet
Performance 125 for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models will be a four tire only event
and will count yellow flag laps up to lap 100.
Things will kick off with an open practice on Friday, pits will open at 10am with hauler
parking. The track will be open for practice from 12noon until 6pm, with alternating 30
minutes sessions for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models and the ARCA/CRA
Super Series Super Late Models. The grandstands will be open with no charge for the fans
to come watch.
Pits will open on Saturday at 8:30am, practice will begin at 12noon. JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model Luke Yoder
Construction Qualifying for the Chevrolet Performance 125 will begin at 4:15pm. ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model VDL
Fuel Systems qualifying for the SpeedFest 200 will follow at 5pm. The grandstands will be open with no charge for the fans to
come watch.
Pits will open at 7:30am on Sunday. All haulers must be removed from inside the track by 10am. Spectator gates will open at
11am. There will be a Chapel Service at 11:30am. The Matthis Brothers will perform behind the grandstands beginning at 12noon
while NASCAR Sprint Cup racers David Ragan, Jeff Burton, Joe Nemechek and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
competitor Johnny Sauter as well as all the drivers competing in the Zaxby’s SpeedFest 2014 will participate in an on track
autograph session beginning at 12:30pm.
Some of the top entries for this weekend’s events besides David Ragan and Johnny Sauter include John Hunter Nemechek, son
of Joe Nemechek, Harrison Burton, son of Jeff Burton, NASCAR Camping World Truck competitor John Wes Townley, plus top
late model drivers Bubba Pollard, T.J. Reaid, Jeff Fultz, Clay Rogers, Preston Peltier, Spencer Davis, Hunter Robbins, Donnie
Wilson, Anderson Bowen, Korey Ruble, Russell Fleeman and Casey Smith.
During the autograph session, up and coming Nashville recording artist Megan Fowler, who just recently released her first single
to iTunes, will perform on stage on the front stretch of the racetrack. Fowler will sign autographs after her performance and will
sing the National Anthem. Also Zaxby’s SpeedFest 2014 Queen Shailee Cole will be greeting fans and posing for pictures also
during the autograph session.
Driver’s introductions will begin at 1:30pm on Sunday. The Chevrolet Performance 125 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models
will take the green flag at 2pm. The SpeedFest 200 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models will hit the track
immediately after the Chevrolet Performance 125. General admission tickets will be sold at the gate for $20 on Sunday, Students 6 to 15 years old will be $10, kids 5 and under are free.
