Portage, Indiana (November 18, 2014) – As the 2014 racing season comes to a
close, 17-year-old Paul Shafer Jr., has had time to reflect on his rookie season in
the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. While not  winning the 2014 rookie
of the year title, he was the runner-up in the freshman title chase while also scoring
an impressive fourth place finish overall in the final points standings. An
accomplishment not lost on the 2013 Illiana Motor Speedway (IN) Super Late Model
Track Champion.

"We had a really good season as far as learning as much as we could, but as it
seemed bad luck kept us from finishing where we should have on many occasions."
Reflected the Portage, Indiana teenager after his first season of touring. "In the
points we ended up fourth which is good, but not exactly where we wanted to be.
The bad luck throughout so many races killed us. We did have a few memorable
races during the season though with finishing second at Indy and fourth at Flat
Rock. This season, as a driver, I've come a long way from last year and earned a
lot of valuable experience. It should make a world of difference this year at the
Derby."

The final race of the 2014 racing season for him and his Shafer Motorsports Team
will be the 47th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on December
3-7th. In 2013 as a 16-year-old, Shafer Jr., shocked the motorsports world by
qualifying into the prestigious race in his first attempt at 15th over a stellar 59-car field.

"We won the 'shocker of the day award' and we really were happy to just make the race based on time. In the race, I think we made it up to about 11th or so, but fell off a little bit towards the end. We came home with a 17th place finish with a race car in one piece though." He remembered.

As for his second attempt at the Derby, Shafer Jr., is optimistic; "This year we have really high hopes for what we can do going back to the Derby. (Crew Chief) Chris (Purdy) has gotten the cars quite a bit better since last year and as a driver I'm a much better racer." Added the Hoosier State teenager. "This year I've gained tons of experience that will be put to the test down in Pensacola. Hopefully we can have another good run like last year. It will definitely be a tough race with lots of good competition, so we just have to go down and do what we've done all season." He ended.

Shafer Jr., finished his rookie season in the ARCA/CRA Super Series as the 2014 Rookie of the Year Runner-Up to top freshman, Wes Griffith Jr. Shafer Jr., grabbed fourth place overall in the final points standings with two top five finishes with a season high runner-up showing in the 2014 CRA Fall Brawl at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on September 28th. He also recorded six top 10 finishes.
